Preparation of the substrate with dry pack mortar. After dry pack mortar is dry next step is porcelain tile installation 24"x 24" or 60cm x 60cm with rectified edges (sharp). T-Lock™ tile leveling system makes the installation easy and fast. This system ensures that the tile installation will be leveled on the point tile to tile (each tile is leveled by all tiles around it). It also prevents tiles from warping as the thin set cures.

Very nice job. I love doing these large dry pack jobs but noticed that this man does not compact his mortar.

Thats not how you do dry pack. Where are your elevation pads? Where are your screeds? Why aren't you guys compacting your dry pack? This is completely wrong. Can't believe there's people that have no pride in their work.

30 years in the business...Just doing kitchens and baths now...That job is the biggest dry pack ( we call them wet bed in philly) I have seen done...We usually just go with the lay of the land, unless its real bad then we patch and fly...:)...Nice job! Good mechanics too!

You'd be surprised by how much drypack is used out there on a yearly basis me and the crew I work with do average 60k sq2 of drypack sometimes over a foot thick. Sure is a great workout

Makes no difference if you uncouple the top from the bottom or the bottom from the top. There is no upside down

If this is like Ditra (green uncoupling material seen here) isn't this guy installing it wrong side up? or wait....is there a special reason to do so ( i.e.install it fleece side up as well as not even bother to smooth and embed it properly )over these smaller areas prior to the dry pack?

Jason Morgan Who cares? I use to get $3.35 sq. ft for ceramic and $5.25 sq. ft for marble in the 80's. The Mexicans ruined that trade a long time ago. Now ceramic is $2.50 sq. ft and Marble is $3.75 sq. ft. I'm sure you can do the math.

you can use pure cement, or portland often known as a slurry coat. you mix it up very soupy and broom it onto the slab and immediately cover it with drypack before it flashes over.
