Possibly the most interesting thing about the band is that Till (the vocalist and lyricist) describes the songs they make as "love songs"

Rammstein is definitely one of the greatest bands of all time. The art at every level is top notch.

To add more context behind the song and performance, the song was written about this famous case in Germany where a cannibal had met up with another man who gave consent to being eaten, and supposedly before the killing the pair shared a meal together consisting of the penis of the man being eaten. "Mein Teil" means "my part", German slang meaning "my penis". Often they like to incorporate the themes of their songs into their performances like they do here

They don’t talk to the audience, except one song where we sing in turn, as Till (lead singer) has stage fright. He hides behind the “characters” he becomes. At the end of the concert, in the language of where they are, Till says “thank you, that was Rammstein.” Then they get down on one knee & bows. I cried. So many emotions in 1 concert & it doesn’t matter that you don’t speak German, I memorised it in English but for some reason I can sing in German lol! The tickets are so cheap considering what you get & I’ve seen them a few times now. Awesome! ❤ xx

The confetti was probably fire retardant and all the foam shooting out of the giant penis made it even more safe to have your face broiled off. I never felt as though I was in danger. Great show, 10/10 do again.

so.. Mein Teil this is the song that persuaded me that Rammstein Live is literally a once in a lifetime experience. (as in you should see them AT LEAST once in a lifetime) fun fact: Till (vocalist) is a licenced pyrotechnician. Bro knows what hes doing on stage. the rest of the band has fire safety training. Mein teil (translates as "my part") is about the curious case of Armin Meiwes, aka the Rotenburg Cannibal / Der Metzgermeister (the master butcher). (you can look all this up on wikipedia) but the song is written from the perspective of the victim.

I was at a Rammstien concert years ago, and was towards the back and I could feel the heat from the fire. I can't imagine being up close in the pit. It was also the most fun I've ever had at a concert. They had a giant d**k cannon firing confetti sp**m into the crowd, it was insane.

The “sperm” starts out as foam & soaked us in the pit & then the confetti came & got stuck to us lol! It was extremely hot so the foam felt great lol! I went home covered in soot, sweat & white confetti. Best concerts ever & I’ve seen many awesome bands in my 55 years of life. They’re touring right now but I’ve missed them this year.

The approach taken by the band is that they know their fans work hard to pay for their tickets to see them, so it's the band's job to work hard to make sure that it's money well spent. There are no half measures with these guys. They're an experience like no other. Meiwes and Brandes were both very troubled individuals, the homicidal and the suicidal. One wanted to kill, the other wanted to die. It was a peculiar way to go about it though, I have to say. Meiwes is now a vegetarian by all accounts. Outstanding performance from the band as always and a great reaction.

Saw them in Minneapolis this last August, their new stage show is even bigger than this one. I don't know if you caught that he switched to a bigger flamethrower. In the new performance he switches from a small flamethrower to a bigger one, and then switches to a flame cannon all the way across the stage. Front row to Rammstein is called the feuerzone. I was on the floor but didn't have access to the feuerzone. They added even more fire to their shows. The lead singer is a licensed pyrotechnician.

It has been mentioned several times in many comment sections, but maybe not here: If you buy a ticket for the first few rows directly in front of the stage, your ticket says, you're in the "Feuerzonze" which translates to fire zone... and you renounce of any compensation if you suffer an minor burns.

When you are in the first few rows at a concert (Feuerzone / firezone), you can buy a shirt with "I survived Rammstein" after the concert. But when you want to buy a ticket, you have to be fast, really fast. Madison Square Garden was sold out in 20 Minutes.

Went to 2 concerts from them, in 2009 or 2010, their return in North America in Québec City and the Stadium tour in Montréal in 2022. The Stadium tour has this song, but with way bigger flamethrower, I mean, WAY BIGGER! It is amazing! The concert lasted over 2 hours and everything was on point. Would go back for sure, but with FeuerZone tickets to be closer to the stage.

Sometimes a songs emotion surpasses the actual lyrical content. Rammstein is a perfect example of this, especially for non German speakers. When "Du Hast" would come on my cars radio, I could feel it. Yet at that point, I had no clue what they were saying, and it really didn't matter.

Awesome fucking band. And you're right, it sucks not understanding the lyrics, but you can always look them up. Years ago, I studied in France. And in the dorms there was always a communal kitchen. And every night, this girl from Senegal would put on her Walkman and belt out Whitney Houston tunes as she cooked dinner. And holy shit, she fucked the lyrics up but good. Still, you could really tell she was getting everything out of those songs, whether she understood the lyrics or not. It was pretty fucking beautiful.

Listen to them long enough and you start learning the words regardless of the fact that they are singing in German. When I started German in High School I already had a lot of basics down. This band helped make that class super easy for me.
