SINATRA was known as the voice. He commanded a room like nobody else. Listen to My Way at Madison square garden and OLD MAN RIVER in 1946 when he was 18 to hear what his voice can do....I saw him several times...he made lots of songs with Nelson Riddle and his orchestra and one of his finest is SINATRA AT THE SANDS with Count Basie and his orchestra

A great album that really shows Frank Sinatra’s chops as a jaxz singer is “Sinatra-Basie:An Historic Musical First”, recorded in 1962. Lots of old-school stsndards sung as only Sinstra could sing them. A great live album is “Sinatra at the Sands”, where he is also acclaimed by The Count Basie Orchestra; check out Come Fly With Me, Fly Me to the Moon, It Was a Very Good Year, and My Kind of Town. I only really started to appreciate Sinatra about five or ten years ago, I’m 65 right now and he was always “old people’s music” to me. I now know that those old folks were pretty darn wise, and pretty hip, too.

Marie Bishop,.. thank you for the story about your Aunt Stella. My aunts uncles and parents are all gone now. A reminder that my time is getting closer by the day. 2022 saw five of my close family members die.... Without the hope and the confidence and faith in God's word the Bible I would be shout out😢 But I do have that belief that the Bible's words will come true just like it says. Isaiah 55:10, 11 tell us that "God's word does not come back to him without result." ACTS 24:15 and JOHN 5:28, 29 tell us that God will RESURRECT The Dead through his son Christ Jesus in the near future "when the earth is cleansed of the wicked we will see it. And the righteous and meek will inherit the earth and live forever on it." Psalm 37: 9-11,22,29,34🎉❤ So there's an opportunity there for you to see your aunt Stella again. 💞🙋🏼‍♀️

Francis Albert. The Chairman of the Board. Ol' Blue Eyes. If you're of a certain age you have lowered the lights in the living room, put Frank on the turntable and cuddled up with your significant other while Frank sealed the deal for you. Listen to The Way You Look Tonight and you can just feel the power of the band behind him. One for My Baby (and One More for the Road) starts with just a piano accompanying Frank as he tells a bartender about a broken live affair and ends with the band easing in for the finish. And, actually, the Johnny Fontaine character in The Godfather was based on Sinatra.

You should do 'My Way" by Frank, it even makes this one pale in comparison. Frank puts his whole soul into it.

My daughter would sing this song in her car seat from the backseat when she was a little one. Mr. Sinatra (as he was known in my house) calmed her down. Her father and grandfather saw Frank live in concert. He did command the stage from the stories I heard. Nice review as always. Take care 🙂

I grew up in the sixties and seventies. People of my generation didn't listen to Frank Sinatra. But I shared an appartement with a girl. She had an LP from Frank Sinatra: In the wee small hours of the morning. Beautiful! The voice, the timing. Perfect! You could try this song ....

My Mum loved Sinatra so I pretty much absorbed all his songs by osmosis. He was a master of rhythm in the songs (like most singers at that time, although Frank was the best). He wasn't a nice person but, man, he could sing! You should have a listen to "One For My Baby".

Love him. One of my faves….the best is yet to come. One of the best opening lyrics ever… “out of the tree of life, I just picked me a plum.” When my daughter was about 3, I had one of his CDs in the car & she was belted out his song from the backseat. Her rendition of “luck be a lady” was participle hilarious.

I listen to a Sinatra song, and I'm instantly transported back to when I was a kid, riding around with my dad, windows open, and him belting out Sinatra songs with such relish and abandon.

When I grew up we made fun of Elvis. Sinatra was too ridiculous to even mention. (He was my dad's music - enough said.) Thanks for reminding me of what morons we were, and how smart dads really are.
