I loved Poltergeist III! I saw this film in the cinema and..., it was incredible!

This essentially clears up the fact that heather completed filming Poltergeist III in June 1987 and that the reshot ending in March 1988 was another girl

I guess Dick Smith didn’t have much time or budget to make the dummies look realistic for this. His resumé was the bees knees when it came to make up and practical effects at the time, a legend in the industry. His associate on the film, Stephan Dupuis, also did amazing work and got an Academy Award co-credit with Chris Walas for The Fly just a couple of years before. I still enjoy Poltergeist III for all the problems the production had and so tragic what happened to Heather.

They should of inserted the final scene with Heather O'Roarke and the others into the last scene of the released movie.

They should had kept this scene to memories of Heather O'Rourke

The mirror scene always creeped me.

So much better!! Was so out of left field to just kill off Tangina in a way that made no sense and the boyfriend is seen again. They don't even acknowledge him in the theatrical cut

They shoulda kept this one.

But how can it be? Heather O'Rourke died before the third shoot was completed

Most of the time, scenes are shot out of order. She had completed most of her scenes, for the rest when you don't see her face, it's another girl playing her.

You know what though that puzzles me when now finally seeing this lost alternate original Ending to Poltergeist 3 where it has more things going on with Pats encounter with Kane inside Carol Anne s room.. to me they should've kept some of this in the original theatrical release and it actually is kind of wierd or doesn't make much sense that they had to use a double for Heather in that last pick up shot of the movie by not showing her awake and her face , when this is proof they had the ending with Heather smiling on the bed with Pat and Bruce, Donna, and Scott survive as well.., to me i would have thought theyd use this cut showing Heather actually in the ending scene her face on cam.. especially to honor her character performance as her passing was later addressed towards the very ending Credits film dedicated to her with her birth date till her year of passing 1975 - 1988..i mean i originally thought sad that they couldn't finish filming the ending due to her passing , and thats why they had to in the final theatrical cut ending hide her face , cause it wasn't Heather in that version of the final ending, and just had her Carol Anne character look as if she was carried through the other side of the mirror in Bruces arms to give to Pat to embrace and hold as she was asleep like a little baby girl , just like at the ending of the first Poltergeist film 1982 where Carol Anne was fast asleep in Diane's arms when the freeling family were checking in to the Motel 6 ..and here in Poltergeist 3 she s in the same position cradled asleep in her Aunt Pats arms..it wierdly mirrors the ending of the first movie in a way..But yea anyway i just thought that didn't make much sense of reshooting the ending again without Heather , when they already had a final ending with Heather actually there in the scene showing her last final performances unfortunately.. i mean that would have gave the ending a more proper satisfaction to have seen her face smiling on the bed alongside her auntie Pat and uncle bruce and Donna and Scott..cause we really didn't get to see scotts ordeal rather or not he got saved as well since he was the 3rd kid to go into the evil spirits and Kanes underworld of the Poltergeist world, in the final theatrical ending it just showed Bruce carrying Carol Anne and hoping Donna among of him through the Bright Light of the other side

How come no sound. Dummies kind of look cheesy. They still could have used the part with them all in the bedroom as the ending. At least see Scott. Oh well
@jameslatrobe2 жыл бұрын
Because back in 1987 when they were cutting the scenes together. The footage would have to go through the sound room to attach its sound but it never did so this scene never got any sound and the sound tapes were probably lost long ago

The cast & crew were all laughing or crying uncontrollably ... So dubbed over with "music"

Not me..i focused on understanding how this clip/"ending" could be questionable due to her passing before the movies completion..then felt better when we see her with fam at the end
