fascinating to watch ...The attention to detail is excellent and this will be a very useful technical resource for other XK8/R owners tackling this work for the first time. That car is going to drive like it was new again ....instead of a shuddering, clonking barge as mine currently is .

great video, be interesting how you set up the upper wish bone in regards to shimming it up. also word of warning the original torque spec on the original design for the fulcrum bolt is about 120 nm. the design with polybush clamps the actual polyurethane not the steel cylindrical tube bush so you wont be going anywhere near 120nm( not without ruining the bushes . i used a lock nut when i done mine and bought various sized washers to shim up for getting the caster right. be interesting how you resolve this. great video again, thank you.

Interesting and great comment Todd. Currently I have it shimmed to stock. It clearly needs to be adjusted because I can feel it through the steering. I am not yet sure if I will tackle it or send it to a specialist.

@@ccuk thank you for reply, my original shims had rusted away so there was my problem right there. may i ask what your solution was to tightening up the fulcrum bolt, mine started to bind if i went too tight hence i loosened it until the wishbone moved freely and then fitted a locking nut. thanks again

@@tiny19892 I have tightened it to the correct torque figures. It moved although not very easily. I intend to drive a few hundred miles and review it again when I look at the shims. I am visiting the Jaguar Classic car works next weekend and I hope there will be someone that I can get some advice from.

Mate, if you rotated the lower wishbone 180d in vice you would been pushing down instead of pulling up. Awesome video tho. I am changing mine right now

Hi, Thanks for an interesting video, I have all this work to do on my own XKR as I need to drop the front cross beam to do some welding behind, do you shot blast the parts to clean them and what paint do you use? I have used Hammerite in the past with fairly good results. Thanks, John.

Hi John. Yes I shot blasted everything that fitted into my cabinet. Many people have used hammarite with great success. For this I used Hycote Stoneguard with a primer after a chemical conversion treatment.

Great job! May I ask, what did you use to paint the wishbones? Ive just bought a soda blaster with the intention of cleaning some parts up on my XKR as I carry out some maintenance. Thanks

I am not a painter but I used Bilt Hamber Hydrate-80 rust converter, then Self Etch Grey Prime & top coated with Hycote Stoneguard Black. I hope this helps.

Did you replace the ball joints ... if so were they difficult

Sorry for the late reply. I missed this message. I did change the ball joints. A local garage used a press to do them.
