As a software developer, the biggest reasons I believe in polygon long-term are the need for cheap, scalability and network-effect for developers (the interoperability with ethereum code means it is easy for developers and projects to start using it without needing to learn new skills or redesign code). The value of both transaction networks and of software development environments are proportional to the square of the size of the network

I agree but I’m paranoid. Some of the wars today are digital. If there is a parallel economy we strive for then look at the bigger picture. You have computers, coders, investment geniuses and perhaps bad actors putting their people to work. Polygons CEO is not a person I would trust. Ok listen who has polygon so far gotten in bed with Disney,Starbucks, etc major white collar oppressive forces. I’m no. Let’s play Arbitrum until proven otherwise

Solana uses a different one and I have heard is harder to build on it. Not everything is about the cheapest. Maybe for us, the users(investors) but for devs, things are different.

I'm in for MATIC pretty hard but only for this cycle. Everything will be vastly different in just a few years. I think there's a big profit potential here but this space moves so fast who knows where we'll be in a few years.

One key difference is that Polygon has signed tons of real partnerships and high potential projects. Big fan of Arbitrum but its rise has been mainly from GMX and GNS so just a bunch of leverage trading. Arbitrum is also centralized, its fraud proofs depend on a few whitelisted validators and a centralized sequencer. Its definitely interesting but Matic definitely has a better long term position atm, as ZK EVM L2s will likely disrupt optimistic rollups in the future so more competition coming in the next year

I just watched Rob's last video on Polygon after this one. I left a message saying I did watch your video James, and there are many great name onboarding with Polygon according to Rob... And not that it's Rob, it's just in the news, so everybody can fact check. But he is taking the opposite argumentation compared to what is said here. Anyway, my point is not to take part or say you're right or wrong or he. You're both absolutelly right ! I feel you James, and you well show it, lot of red flags on Polygon. And yet, you have Nike, Disney, big names and A.I. comming on Polygon for Satoshi's sake ! So yes, short to longer term it seems all shinny and yet looking at your lecture it's a huge hammer hit behind the head to see how much it's centralized. So for the long run, I tend to have some MATIC, small position, wait and see, don't forget to take profit. Then after this bullrun let's where it'll stand and if they improved on theirs grey areas. Love the channel, I always learn something so you'll always have a thumb up anyway, and it's not even on the news yet sometimes, so thank you very much James !

Ok. Nice video!! BUT, lots of people are missing the BIG picture here. From a pure transactional perspective, this video is spot on. But, please keep in mine that Altcoins are new software programs that's going to usher in the 'new INTERNET.' How we pay bills, interact with each other(i.e., metaverse), buy real estate, record transactions, learn, exchange goods/services(i.e., NFTs) and so on. Sooner or later, AI, blockchain, and the metaverse will combine and create a massive opportunity for mass adoption for institutions and retail communities. In other words, Altcoins is the software that's going to help make all this possible. Just like the current internet made Amazon possible.

1 thing for sure: Polygon is not standing still. Their acquisitions & ecosystem additions are fantastic on the road to ZK. Their aggressive business development is matched by their technical development. They may very will differ from OP, Arb, etc by being a suite of solutions/tools using the MATIC token, rather than just being an L2. Def not a fan of the tokenomics/centralization though.

No mention of the zkevm updates? That's one of the biggest breakthroughs in the crypto space. It also invalidates your polygon hermez argument, because they used hermez to finalize it. It should be a big argument in this video actually

Notice how he can’t even mention that Mr Ethereum himself has said Layer 2’s will always be there going forward. It’s probably the only crypto besides BTC and ETH people should start doing research on Layer 2’s. Everything else will be a pump and dump game.

it has looked like a strong project and could hold its own IF it doesn't slack off in development and can leverage its strengths and partnerships to lead over the competition - that doesn't necessarily matter to someone trying to 10x an investment. I caught Matic right before its huge moves last bull run so I've made my profit and keeping some only in case long term things go well. Otherwise, I'm not investing any more because like they said, I don't see a good risk/reward outlook at this price.

Wallet concentration on some smart contract platforms are very misleading as a single address is used for a contract and not controlled by any one person but usually thousands. ETH beacon chain staking address for example.

Lmao, if I was a investor in Polygon I can say they are doing everything I would want as a investor. They have Invested 1 billion in ZK tech, being aggressive in partnerships, incentives if needed. It’s how the real world works we all know that. Point is everything looking good for layer 2’s especially Polygon Matic. Let me add that I have already seen the 10x in hype in this bear market for Matic in the CT world. It’s almost kinda suspicious to be honest.

Could you please (unless you have already?) do a deep dive on where we are in the ‘S-curve of adoption’ for BTC/crypto? Apparently around the 15-35% adoption mark there is what is termed the ‘chasm’ or ‘chasm of disappointment’ where there is a huge crash of the overall tech sector being adopted and most projects get wiped out and only the very best projects survive on the other side of the chasm to take all the market share moving forward, similar to the ‘dotcom crash’ and how many bad internet stocks that went under with only google, Amazon, Microsoft etc surviving and thriving on the other side (eg BTC, ETH and maybe just a small handful of others with use case adoption lock-in?) I’m not sure how to gauge the actual ‘adoption’ % of where we are though or even where this ‘chasm’ should actually hit (15-35% is a wide margin, but probably I misunderstand where it theoretically is?) to me what counts is the adoption and partnership with institutions and big brands. Non other chain has to offer that. So, how come despite the negative fundamentals these big guys are using the technology that Polygon has to offer? I guess what counts is not the inflation, ownership or twitter spam. If Solana is the Eth killer with its TPS speed, why the chain got so less interest from the big companies?

The use of Hermez v1 is residual because it does not support smart contracts and it's about to be deprecated when the zkEVM, which is being heavily used on its testnet, goes mainnet.
