As someone who grew up in the 90s, Vaporwave is a very hyperbolic look back on nostalgia, to the point of over-saturation, but it fits the whole "dream" aesthetic, like you're daydreaming of everything great about the past, all at once. Why they chose specifically 80s and 90s nostalgia, my guess is it was their childhood. Great videos by the way, I've been really enjoying your channel. Keep up the great work!

The whole video is a treasure. What did you said in the end, the ''meaning'' of vaporwave as not a political movement, but a collection of feelings and composing a piece of media. You can really enjoy vapor as a transcendental art form, as surrealism is. Like, it's the surrealism of the digital era, thinking about our dreams too, but images that represent the transcendent of those good feelings that you dreamt to live in a digital world. Even if the material used, logos, is real. This is a bit of nostalgia, but it's the futurism in it's new form. Not that blank white space with rounded big architectures, that was just a sketch without feelings and complexity. Thanks vapor artists!

Bro. U totally nailed it. This is probably the best video to describe vaporwave in its simplest terms. BTW the Memphis design group pretty much invented the original visual design aesthetic that we typically associate with the 80s and early 90s and early cgi and later on vaporwave. And Memphis group was also trying to critique consumerism and mainly protesting against hyperminimalism through the gratuitous use of crazy geometric patterns and shapes in garish colors all the way back in the 80s though ironically the Memphis design scheme ended up becoming representative of wealthy elites out of touch with reality back then until its revival in vaporwave

Minor correction on the bit about the 3D neon grid: that was always part of Synthwave and Synthwave didn't really birth from the same place as Vaporwave did (though that isn't to say the two don't cross paths; they absolutely do). While you're right in pointing to the birth of vaporwave being from sunsetcorp, Synthwave's origins are traced back to Kavinsky (although there is an argument to be made that Daft Punk's "Discovery" album could be seen as something akin to proto-Synthwave). So yeah, two VERY different scenes, but they have crossed over before (notably Synthwave artist Bart Graft and Vaporwave artist Bubble Keiki collaborating on the album "Emerald"). Though I do think the 3D neon grids are why so many people get Synthwave and Vaporwave confused with one another. Other than that, pretty good breakdown of Vaporwave as an aesthetic.

I grew up in the 90s, sterotypical computer nerd. I was always nostalgic, as a teenager wanting to be a kid, as a young adult wanting to be a teenager, as an adult wanting to be...any of those. I was hooked on the aesthetic when I first came across it, almost a missing puzzle piece to transporting me back. I often wondered if I experience nostalgia differently than most people, having spatial synesthesia. I can scan my personal timeline landscape, pick something out, and almost envelop myself in the feeling. That's what vaporwave/liminal/dreamcore does for me, help enshroud myself in the feeling of a summer sunset, or the warm glow of TGIF on Fridays

I’ve been pretty interested in the general Vaporwave aesthetic because of splatoon 2’s Octo expansion. It nails the aesthetic perfectly and encompasses surreal imagery such as toys, wacky inventions and game consoles just floating throughout the levels, and that added with the music and the dim neon lights lighting up the levels give a sense of liminality. And I also have feedback for you "Tierlisting games based on their doors" video! The DOOM 1993 rating was not accurate. Not only can you use any texture when creating a door in doom, hence the hidden doors, but there are also at least 12 textures that have the word "DOOR" in their name iirc. This ofc only applies to DOOM 1 and 2. Final DOOM (Plutonia and TNT: Evilution, two mods that were released commercially by id Software themselves) most likely contain way more door textures. If you plan making more door tierlist videos, I'd recommend covering Terraria. It features 45 doors of completely different designs, even if they seem quite flat. If you took your time reading this, thanks a lot! Much love!

Vaporwave feels like some kind of treasure that was always out of reach; being out of reach was what made it feel so mysterious and exotic, now that it is obscured and buried under many other things means that when one roadblock finally faded another one came up in it's place. Now that I am a capable adult who is less affected by the gatekeeping I suffered as a weak and vulnerable child I feel inclined to dive in and explore what was flashed to me and quickly revoked from my vision.

Duck is the common name for numerous species of waterfowl in the family Anatidae. Ducks are generally smaller and shorter-necked than swans and geese, which are members of the same family. Divided among several subfamilies, they are a form taxon; they do not represent a monophyletic group (the group of all descendants of a single common ancestral species), since swans and geese are not considered ducks. Ducks are mostly aquatic birds, and may be found in both fresh water and sea water.
