Oh no Leora, what's the main problem? Don't be too hard on yourself, you should have seen my attempts when I first started !! Have you got the right brand of clay? Some of the generic brands do not work well, so it may not even be you, but the clay. I am so glad you are enjoying the videos, but if there is something I can do to help, just ask :)

Oh Fiona I love this cane❣️ This will make a very cool covering for one of 6 keepsake boxes I am making my grandsons for Christmas!! Thank you again for your time, talent, expenses, filming & editing and for your AWESOME INSPIRATION...❣️❣️ You never fail to amaze me!! As always - please stay safe and healthy and happy...you are treasured sweet clay friend, teacher and mentor💖💖💞 I will send photos once I’ve completed the boxes. One is almost done and I’ve started on the second - working around hinges has been tricky!! And I’ve opted for raised vinyl lettering for their names as the letter cutouts are quite small and not conducive to cutting them out in clay...at least not for these old shaky hands LOL. Love you sweet lady from across the ocean❣️🌹🥰 Susie

Thanks so much Kelly. It really is nothing more than practice, and getting used to putting just enough pressure on the clay. Just enough to make it move, but not so much to squish it. It's like riding a bike, once you've got it, you've got it, but up till that point it can seem a bit daunting, Don't give up, it will suddenly go right. Also don't forget we are all our own worst critics, so your idea of not going well could be another persons idea of perfection :)

Oh no, definitely don't give up :( It is sadly the old adage, practice, practice, practice, you should have seen my initial tries all those years back. Also don't be too hard on yourself, remember we are all our own worst critics and I bet others would look at what you have done and go 'wow'. Thanks so much for saying I have inspired you to have another go, that means a lot to me. Have fun, don't stress and let the clay take you where it will ;) thank you Wildest Blings :)

Thanks so much Lucifer TV. I do have tutorials on my Etsy store, link in the video description above, but I occasionally do these as pure patterns or veneers as I know lots of people have ideas to use them for. One lady above is going to cover a box, others will cover journals. Take the square and drape it over a bowl form and bake and you'll have a nice bowl, cover pen blanks, or simply create the veneer then cut out shapes for pendants, bracelets etc. I hope that gets at least some ideas churning for you ;)

I am so inspired by your beautiful work and am dreaming of trying to work with polymer clay myself. I’m in the U.S. so I’m not sure I can get the same clay, tools or pasta machine that you use, but just in case, what pasta machine would you recommend? Do you like a hand cranking or electric machine best? Thank you so much for your informative and helpful videos. Not sure if perhaps making beads might be the easiest place to start...

PS: why do you make the skinner blends with diagonal cuts?
@FionaAbelSmithPolyOriginals
@FionaAbelSmithPolyOriginals 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Suzanne, yes you can get all the same types of tools, equipment and clay in the US :) I have a stock reply on the pasta machine as I get asked so often, so will add that in a minute, for the Skinner Blends, you do the diagonal cuts so that you get a smooth even blend from one colour to the next. Straight joins would give an abrupt colour change, which is also useful at times, but not so good for the smooth blends. I hope that helps, here is the past machine info ; The pasta machine I use is an Atlas machine, at home I use the 180 (a wider machine) and when travelling or on workshops, I use the 150. I have always used the Atlas machines and I find them very good for Polymer Clay. However, there are other very good makes, such as the Imperia machines, and of course those made specifically for use with Polymer Clay. Ginger Davis Allman, from The Blue Bottle Tree has a number of articles on Pasta Machines - thebluebottletree.com/?s=pasta+machines which may prove helpful in choosing a machine. Here is a link to an Atlas machine, (for reference only, as obviously there are many other places both online, and in stores where they can be found), and it is worth searching around till you can find a good deal on one. I hope that is of some help. www.amazon.com/Marcato-8320-Machine-Cutter-Instructions/dp/B0009U5OSO/ref=sr_1_3?crid=BPH5K7P26RQT&keywords=atlas+pasta+machine&qid=1556786279&s=gateway&sprefix=atlas+pasta+machine%2Caps%2C211&sr=8-3
