Samantha, I really like these a lot! I'm not a warm colors person, so how much I like this is a rare compliment, lol. What impressed me with the video is the diversity of looks you created with just three colors, based on how much of each color you used and the shape of the beads/cabochons you made. Wonderful job--as always!

I really like your videos! You really explain things well. I have just started with polymer clay. I really just wanted to make some memory beads from my mom's funeral. I was wondering if you have, or someone else had, made a video telling what the difference in all the different types of polymer clay are. I have seen, souffle, pearl, transparent, translucent, sculpey 3, effect, accents, etc...

I don't have a video on what all the different types of polymer clay are, but I do have a few articles here. www.jessamatutorials.com/polymer-clay.html www.jessamatutorials.com/polymer-clay-2.html I also know that Cindy Lietz from Polymer Clay Tutor does a lot of reviews on the different types of clay brands. kzbin.info

Thank you for showing us what we can do with Gelatos. I am now tempted to try your technique with a cool colors palette. I am also thankful for your instruction in threading leather cord. I did not think you could use a crimp bead and charlotte crimps with this material. This is opening up a new world for me in terms of how to hang my jewelry pieces.

I thought to pop on here since I also like these beads. I was curious whether you have to seal somehow the gelattos since are also used in watercolor..do they come off once the final piece is baked in case you have it wet? or it just bakes inside the translucent clay and stays there? :) That would be ideal..
@JessamaTutorials4 жыл бұрын
It bakes inside the translucent and so doesn't need to be sealed. I sand it to remove any surface gelatto so that it's only embedded inside the clay.

Hello Jessama, first, congratulate you for the beautiful things you do. I'm not missing any of your tutorials. I would like to ask you how you finish your pieces; I made this tutorial exactly like you and with the same products and brands; everything went well, I polished it and polished it but it did not give me the result like yours that finished had a perfect shine. What sand and polish? Or do you finish it with resins? Regards Leyla
@JessamaTutorials6 жыл бұрын
Smoothing off your beads before putting them in the oven is quite important. This will remove finger prints. Once baked I spent around ten to fifteen minutes per bead sanding working up from a 400 grit sandpaper to a 8000 grit. Then I placed a bit of Renaissance wax on then and buffed with my buffing wheel. Rubbing the beads down on some old soft fabric will also work instead of using a buffing wheel.

Hey Samantha- (I'm back to bother you again!) I love this tutorial & your end result is so beautiful. I'm also really excited because for a change, I actually already have all the supplies needed! Anyway, I have two question if you don't mind- 1st, I'm wondering about the cabachons. I'm not familiar with them at all & my (unknowledgable) understanding of them is that they need to be put into a bezel. But now I'm assuming I'm wrong because you shaped yours using a free form & I don't see how it's possible to have a bezel in that exact shape. So can you tell me what you'll do to make those cabs into necklace pendants? And secondly- are the crimp beads you used on the leather cord just the standard size? The ones I always find at the store are (I think) 2mm wide, so is that what you're using? Or do you need a larger size to get it around the leather? Ok, that's all for now. Thanks so much for another great tutorial & for reading another one of my long questions!
@JessamaTutorials6 жыл бұрын
Well when I make cabochons I generally don't put them into a bezel. I like to finish off the backs and then drill them to use as pendants, especially ones this large. If I wanted to put them in a bezel I'd make the bezel from polymer clay and shape it around the cabochon I want so that it fits. The crimp beads I'm using are about 3mm on the inside diameter, but not all leather is that thickness. I using really thin 2mm thick leather. So it depends on the thickness of the leather for what crimp beads you'll need.

Hi Samantha 👋 I love your tutorial on these gelatos. I have a question...could I use gelatos for starters rather than alcohol inks? Do they compare at all? I have to choose one or the other right now. Annnndddd... I'm really loving these gelatos 🥰😁
@JessamaTutorials5 жыл бұрын
Gelatos are very different from alcohol inks. As far as which one is more versatile alcohol inks are the one I'd go with.
