The tip about smearing clay around the border was excellent! I think it's a technique most professionals don't share and then watchers wonder why their piece doesn't look as "finished" as the authors. Thank you so much for truly helping us do our best!!! Beautiful work!!! ❤️

I’m new to clay. I love the smear on the edges. Just wondering do you put them back in the oven ?
@adyingdream45854 жыл бұрын
@@rafsewnow She does put back in the oven. When you put your pieces many times back in the oven, it is nice to bake each time for around 15mins. So if you need to bake it 3 times, put them each of the three times in the oven for 15 mins. Hope it was clear.

Magnificent work and demonstration skills. When you are brushing out the stripes of alcohol ink to smooth them, this can be called "feathering". By removing these hard edges, you then have a better background for creating your alcohol ink circles. While it seems odd to some, to take such effort to smooth and even out the colors, its worth it for the later ink effects. Your details are very helpful. My only two cents to add: encourage viewers to open their alcohol ink bottles away from their precious work, so bits of dried ink don't get bound up in the clay.

Excellent tutorial! A butane torch works well to get the bubbles out (breaks the surface tension). There are small hand drills that work well for holes. You have to go slowly, and like with the hand drill, allow the drill to do the work... don't push, guide! For small pieces like this, however, I agree that a hand drill is probably best. I LOVE that you put the materials at the beginning of the video! Then if we want to make this, or something similar, we know we can go back to the beginning to find what we may need! Just a tip, you could find these items on Amazon, make an instructor's or "Favorites" list where people can order all in 1 place, and you can get paid a percentage for the referral. I really like that your tutorial directions are very clear and that you explain why you are doing what you are doing in each step. An excellent video for beginners and advanced, as advanced people can skip ahead. If you aren't already teaching at a school or college, you should consider it as a career. You obviously put a lot of thought into your video! Well done! I subscribed and hope to see more of your videos!

I've watched a few of your videos now and they are excellent; I really appreciate the tips that you give - love the one about adding the black clay to the sides - I've been trying many things to finish my pieces and that will be my next one. Also, the hand drill that you use has a very fine bit - could you provide the name of the drill, the size of the bit. I've been looking around for something like that, preferably with interchangeable drill bits. I have one suggestion (not knowing anything about the difficulties/issues involved) could you include in your text below the video a list of the clays, tools, etc. that you use. thank you for sharing!!!!!

Thank you Jessica for another wonderful tutorial. I noted that you did not use Bake and Bond for attaching the back to your baked top. I thought thus was a needed step to ensure that the two pieces would firmly stick together. Can you comment, please.

@janedoe61817 жыл бұрын
It's interesting how what one person finds difficult another finds easier, and vice versa. I am a complete beginner with polymer clay, but I find 2 part resin so much easier to use than one part UV resins. I don't know if that has anything to do with being a chemist and not being at all intimidated by having to mix chemicals or if it's just because I'm weird. I find that the one part resins pull away from the edge so much that it takes multiple applications to cover a piece. If you're doing a lot of pieces at once, the multiple applications can be quite time consuming. I have found that certain resins pull away worse than others. Is it just me that has this problem with UV resins? Am I doing something wrong? I have used the edge smearing technique to join two already baked halves that are the same color, but have never tried it with one baked and one raw. I bet it's so much easier the way you do it!
@sharonnodelman18137 жыл бұрын
Loved the tutorial, great tips. I am curious about one thing...when adding the backing or the edge trim it appears that you don’t use an adhesive. I thought when adding raw clay to cured clay that an adhesive was necessary. From your experience is it not?
@JessamaTutorials7 жыл бұрын
I've never had trouble with the clay coming off, so I don't find it necessary to put any adhesive.
@JessamaTutorials7 жыл бұрын
You can use adhesive, but I find it makes the process harder and it isn't really necessary.
