Polymer Clay Tutorial 37: Clay on Clips

Hi Weekend Crafter!
For this weekend, I thought it would be fun to experiment on decorating clips with clay. And at the same time, I also wanted to apply some of the techniques that I've learned from other KZbin crafters, like ‪@FireMountainGems‬ and ‪@JessamaTutorials‬ .
For the first clip, I used clay molds. For the second clip, I used a marbling technique. And finally for the last clip, I did a sutton slice technique.
To attach the clay to the clips, I sanded the top metal part and attached the clay with some E6000.
Edit (Dec 3, 2021) I still, on ocassion, use E6000 for attaching clips for personal use, but I have gone back to attaching my clay with superglue. I still sand both the metal part and the clay for better adhesion.

Regarding the Sutton slice for your alligator clip, I think the gray space and "imperfections" were perfect and lovely before you cut it. Thanks for being brave enough to share your first time with the Sutton slice.

Love your work it's beautiful but a word of warning E6000 won't hold polymer clay for long.

Thank you! I realized that after a couple of months of use. E6000 can be a little tricky because for most of the clips, it’s held on, but it did detach on a few. I don’t use E6000 anymore , I have to make an update on my description 😊 Thanks for leaving a comment!

The first clip, the snap clip comes with a base that you attached the polymer piece to after baking? Do you have a link? Do you have any recommendations for other types of clips that would be good for this?

2 reasons why your clay may be breaking: Either your oven is not hitting the right temperature, or you’re not baking it long enough. Pls check your package po to see what is the correct temperature for your brand of clay. Suggest also to buy oven thermometer to check po the temperature of your oven. Also, don’t take your pieces out until fully cooled. It’s weak when it’s still hot. Let it cool down first before removing from the baking tray 😊 Hope this helps!
