Its such fun medium - and definitely worth the investment! I have a few tutorials (both full length and shorts) on my channel using gold leaf foil. For earring thickness - I like to keep it between 2.5-3mm. I find they are more study at that thickness - but its still easy enough to use the findings. I usually bake at the recommended temp (according to the clay pack) but for about 45min -1hr regardless on thickness. Hope that info helps!

I usually use either Sculpey Souffle or Sculpey Premo. Occasionally Fimo or cernit.
