Polymer Flocculants in Wastewater Treatment - Clearwater Industries Jar Test

This video shows how polymer flocculants are used in wastewater treatment to separate solids from liquids.
The jar test illustrates four slurry samples, each treated with 2.5 ppm of anionic flocculant. The slurry samples are from aggregate production and well-drilling operations.
Here we can see that using anionic polymer flocculant on slurry samples created 12-16 in/minute of settling velocity.

Can cationic polymeric flocculant do the same and coagulate floating algae to the bottom for the filter to capture it and then vacuum it on a pool??

Potentially. We use cationic and anionic polymers depending on the application and charge of the particles. You would need to run some jar tests to confirm the best polymer and if the algae would even sink.
