Half the comments is the reason why I think this "outcast" mindset of people who listen to rock, alternative, prog rock/metal and other sub genres is incredibly outdated. You don't have to like a specific genre. In fact a mix of them might sound great! For people who don't confine or limit themselves into specific genre, this is a breath of fresh air. Definitely has the positive vibes to it!
@ddlcp3 жыл бұрын
Taking best of every aspect sounds good in concept that's but its easier said than done also, they came to be in a long span of time & can be identified with aspect of each craft so, for you to say they are outdated. I listen to every genre of music as I enjoy each aspect of them & I recently came across polyphia which i enjoyed it but they are alright, talented as of now but they aren't as new as genre defining or even close as you'r trying to... they'r mix of different genre of technique & beat which you can find dim a dozen specifically in digital genre.. so, I wouldn't necessarily say breath of fresh air but one of many that doesn't relate to any but also doesn't 've it own ID...

Been in this scene for 7 years, noticed the chugging, 'djenty' shit first with slipknot and all that remains and trivium. Picked up structures' all of the above at 15. Volumes concept of dreaming at 16. Northlane, periphery, monuments, modern day babylon, Gideon (which is a stretch), substructures, erra, elitist, fuck you name it I jammed it hard at 17. And so on and so forth. I know all about this shit and polyphia is totally progressive metal. If not in thick complex phrasing or song structure, then in simple feel. This is a metal song. It does not have to be happy or even relatively orthodox. If nothing else, this is a black metal song in the sense that they do everything in an unorthodox fashion deliberately. Learn your music. I come back to this and not only do I end up appreciating it a bit more after loving their new sound in the last two albums, I really sit down and pay attention to the video and the editor in me from my time in high school... oh my lawdie. Bryce and Josh, you killed it here. The general flow, cuts and fx in-time with Vinny's dancing interspersed with the band is *mwah*, oh it's a joy to watch. ^-^ One of my favourite parts in the video is at 4:03 when the music crescendos and we cut to Vinny very slightly in the air and touching down in a triumphant pose. Just that little nuance of being in the air *enough* to feel a bit of *WEIGHT* and *IMPACT* as he hits the ground in-time with the band. Beautiful section to put it in too. And hey, even if it wasn't your choices to make the video how you did, I still see that hard work. :)

I don't really find any dramatic differences from their style, come on!
