Why still written 2n? If there are 3 or 4 .... Sets of chromosomes so should we write 3n or 4n??? I am confused with 2n, 3n please tell anyone

it's written 2n still because it's just for that specific cell. Since n has no constant value. n then is said to belong to whatever value it's given. The value n is half of the total number of chromosomes in the cell. Us humans have 2n = 46, where n = 23. Mosquitos 6 chromosomes, therefore, is written as 2n = 6 (diploid), where n = 3 (haploid)

I'm super late but I think "2x" for instance is 2x sets of chromosomes, I think.
