the fact that ekoro got a map made in his name is so cool, that really shows just how insane he is polyrhythm and reading. also, mrekk's score on ekoro is dumb lol. is sputnik 3 really polyrhythm? he explained at 1:58 what polyrhythm is but that kind of rhythm doesnt really exist in sputnik 3. sputnik 3 has a funky rhythm sure, but its not 2 different time signature overlayed on top of each other. just check the song and you wont hear that kind of rhythm. if you check in the editor you can hear 1/4, 1/3, and 1/6 but non of these rhythm overlaps each other like at 1:58

Polyrhythmic maps are probably the most fun and challenging maps when you wanna test how good you've gotten at most skillsets. Kinda like how some people see tech maps as a test of their aim, reading, and streaming ability.
@beanboy40622 жыл бұрын
?? These types of maps only require reading and finger control, which is of course not to say it's easy (because it's not), but really I'm not sure I understand your perspective about tech maps either. Tech maps are very similarly reading maps most of the time that test slightly nonstandard aim / slider aim. They might occasionally have a stream section... I think you can be good at all 3 things you mentioned and still suck at tech maps
@Unkn4wN_TM2 жыл бұрын
@@beanboy4062 Most of these polyrythmic maps require really good aim aswell, when you play the highest difficulty. You can't look at vanguard and say it's mostly finger control and reading with almost no aim required. Almost all skills are required for those maps. With tech maps tho, i think you might have a way too small sampling size. Many tech maps have extensive streaming sections, and also require exceptional aim, again, at the highest difficulties. On 5 - 6* difficulties these maps are pretty much as you described tho: not too hard aimingwise and not too many streams, but still require finger control and reading for the most part.
@TheBigSad82472 жыл бұрын
@@Unkn4wN_TM Nope. That's wrong. Both vanguard and Sputnik are not hard to aim at all. It's pure finger control and reading. If you want a polyrhythm map with also though aim, try... Well... "Polyriddim"
@beanboy40622 жыл бұрын
@@Unkn4wN_TM I've got 2,000 hours in the game, so I mean, I think I am entitled to my.opinions on map categorization and sample size is not an issue
@beanboy40622 жыл бұрын
And yeah you are correct that some of these maps require some decent aim but that's more so of a skill floor requirement than the focus of the map or what makes it hard, so I think it's a bit disingenuous to claim that these maps are about having good aim in addition to these things when in reality, when you're at the level of really being able to play them, you should've already hit that skill floor as they are typically easier to aim than most 6 star maps.

I am actually mad that in a video about polyrhythmic maps and on the topic of Ekoro being one of the best players in this category, that you didn’t mention his monstrous 1x miss on Decaplet which is infinitely more difficult than the likes of Sputnik. It’s like the final boss of the polyrhythmic maps that are ranked as of right now and yet he almost fced it with the nearest person, Mathi (one of the best finger control gods of all time) getting an 11x miss, and red pixel being the lowest miscount behind Ekoro with a 6x miss but with 3/2 less combo.

For one thing, I've decided to help develop the first pro-ranked video game music beatmap, in a long time; to be named Heat Haze Shadow from Tekken 7, here on osu! It will include an image of the final battle between Kazuya and Heihachi Mishima, alongside a near polyrythmic beat setting, and a 10* beatmap set as the hardest possible difficulty, whenever submitted online. From there, I would love to challenge the top 100 osu! players, to participate and SS the beatmap, regardless of any used mods in the beatmap. Also expect the beatmap to have the hardest difficulty have a custom name, that I'm deciding on, as of the day of comment. Whenever submitted, I don't know if it will be good, but it's definitely going to take about half a year to basically develop all of the set difficulties.
@jonathon4222 жыл бұрын
These maps sound like a legitimate nightmare for people who actually have a deep understanding of polyrhthms because osu doesn't allow for 2 notes on the same beat. Polyrhythms land together on the same beat at least once. For a percussionist, who has played them most of my life, having to adjust everything I've ever known about ployrhythms sounds like a terrible and un-fun experience.
@fctucycy8v8yvy672 жыл бұрын
These aren't actual polyrhythms. I guess the musical equivalent to these maps are hemiolas.
@JaySk8n2 жыл бұрын
idk, ig it depends what kind of tapping style you use, but to me, isn't it still fine? like, there's still going to be *a* note there, and you can treat it as the rhythm for both. these maps aren't mapped so each finger is doing different rhythms if you full alt anyways, so it rly doesn't make a difference

@varixalint2 жыл бұрын
Nothing
@jonathon4222 жыл бұрын
In context with the video, his use of 4/4 and 3/4 are technically incorrect. He's referring to how the notes constantly shift between 16th notes and triplets, so 4 evenly spaced notes per beat (16th notes) and 3 evenly spaced notes per beat (triplets). You don't have to switch between 4/4 and 3/4 to do that. To answer your original question though. Time signatures refer to the number of beats per measure. The number after the slash is only really important for reading music or indicating a feel and isn't really needed to listening. So if you ignore the number after the slash, 4 indicates 4 beats per measure while 3 indicates 3 beats per measure. The same is true no matter the number.
