Fried green tomatoes are fantastic - mix some seasonings into some cornmeal, dip and pan fry. I don't blame Hazel one bit for getting comfy in there! 😄💖

For the first time, I'm lacto-fermenting our green tomatoes this year. Combined with a few herbs (thyme, oregano, basil, garlic), it's quite the culinary delight. That would be enough reason, but the gut microbiome benefits only sweeten the deal. Not to mention fermentation preserves them for months.

That sounds very interesting. Thanks for the tip!

Mum used to make fantastic green tomato chutney, using Bramley apples from the garden, onions, sultanas, soft muscovado sugar, malt vinegar & pickling spices. Perfect with home-baked fresh bread & a hunk of mature Cheddar cheese!

Ketchup, tomato in vinegar can be done from green tomato.. green tomato can be placed on the window sill to get red

Hi, we did do that with lots of them in the end and they did ripen on the window sill. Not tried green ketchup before!

The dog's absolutely adorable 😁 I'd like to have a small greenhouse that's integrated into (or at least connected to) my house should I ever get to build one... A nice circular dirt bag house, with reciprocating roof trusses and a nice quicklime plaster finish. Both the wood workshop and the aforementioned small greenhouse connected to it. Similar to what I have seen a done by another KZbinr. Add a willow coppice for firewood an there's what I consider a perfect home. Although I'd have to be a little more on point with insulation in Canadian winters 🥶

That sounds fantastic! I hope you get it someday.

You live in an exposed area, how is the tunnel up there? Or did you manage to shelter it? I would like to get one but the only place I can put it would take the full force of the wind.

Hi, we have a 2 meter high hedge on three sides that really helps. However, the tunnels are meant to be quite robust. We have had some serious winds and have had no damage apart from the strawberry baskets landing on the floor!

@@theviewfromtheclouds thanks for the reply I'm hoping I can maybe angle it in to the wind so it rolls off.

Yes, that might do the trick!

A great way to avoid the rodent issue is to keep a cat in there overnight.

Good idea! Now I just need a decent cat. Our cat, Lucy, is rather old and spends most of her time sleeping on our bed instead of hunting. Oh well!
