It's your fault that your marriage is broken. You are a typical hmong guy. Your wife can only do things for your side not her side. Like your wife said, she helps you all the time with your side of the family, why can't she help her family when they are in need of her help too?

@ Ka, let’s said your husband has four brothers and a couple sisters and his dad still alive, but your husband said he is going to cover all the funeral expenses and leave everyone out of it, would you be Okay with his decision? I can see helping a few thousands but not funded the whole funeral, that’s like 40k to 60k.

It’s not one sister’s responsibility to do her father’s funeral. It’s the whole family’s responsibility to plan/budget/save money for death/dying for their parents n they failed!

Forget the hmong’s old ways of jealousy and corruption. He should help her as much as she has help him. At the end of the end of the day, your spouse’s anger, stress, and tears is yours as well. You only want to see them happy and strive to eliminate their problems and remove troubles from them. He shouldn’t care about her greedy/deadbeat family, doing it for the love that he has for her. It’s like buying a $5,000 for my 7 year old child and helping to take care of it to keep him happy, even though I do not care for the dog. I do it to make the person that I love happy.

I don’t agree with her taking over the burial. She has 3 brothers and 3 sisters. She can only do her part not the whole thing. I was once told by a wise man that never laugh or thuam another person…😩

I agree. She shouldn't have to take over the funeral. If she had bough life insurance for her mother and her other siblings are dirt poor then it's understandable. But to be siblings and not want to help at all is not the husband's fault. I dont get the wifey's poV. Yes you can help but not take charge of the funeral expenses.

Us daughters cannot take over our parent's funeral except if we have no brothers at all. Then yes, we can take over. To be fair to both sides, we should help half and half, may be more than half if it's our mil or fil.

Brother, that was wrong for ur wife to bury her mother all on her own when there are other children and in the Hmong culture, our parents sold us out to our husband so if we can help financially then great and if not, we r not penalize. As for ur luck, ur wife needs to understand that as well and that’s not even worth her running away . Not like u cheated or beat her up or brought a second wife.

Toxic relationship is never good for anyone. If a relationship is salvageable, then stay, but when it’s really bad, it’s okay to walk away. Sometimes, Hmong people stay for the wrong reasons, but we all have to make decisions that will work for us and our family . No right or wrong. Just what u are willing to put up with, forgive, and how much self love do u have for yourself.

I find that some preach but never practices what they preach neither. I know some claims to be rich and most of those that are truly rich aren't humble at all. Hmong has a saying "Saib Dej ua Ntu Saib Neeg ua Plhu is exactly that. If you're not rich no one care, if you're not a doctor regardless of what kind then they don't care neither. We often forget where we came from once we are financially comfortable.

I too applaud you for recognizing your errors and learned to love the people around you. It's easier to watch and laugh about someone until the shoes are turned. Repentance and asking forgiveness takes a lot of pride away, but you did it. A life lesson learned 💯. Thank you for sharing.

I'm glad you learned NOT to be too judgemental. We're all human with lots of flaws. Every-single-one-of-us. You never know what others are going through. One you walk in their shoes, then you see. May your store help those that are judgemental now. When I divorced my abusive ex, this lady was talking lots of crap about me and spreading lies about me holding her nose high. 5 years later.... she divorced too! She cheated on her husband. She didn't have the guts to look me in the eyes when she saw me in public after that. 😆 So what goes around comes around.

Poor excuse to cheat and disrespectful. Funeral expenses should've been discussed with the in- laws thoroughly also. If there are no other siblings, it's understandable, but the in-laws should have taken some responsibility also.

Listening to this story, two words comes to mind, "humidity & humble". We need to learn what these two mean. When we watched Chinese movies, the heroes(ex: Jacky Chan) has to learn humidity and become humble before he can complete his trainings. Thank you for sharing.
