This brings back so many memories. I learnt to do this in primary school about 45 years ago. I couldn't quite remember before but it all came back. We were taught a slightly different way to tie up but your way gives a better pompom. I think our teacher learnt it as an occupational therapy project after he was injured in the 2nd world war.

My mum used to make them too. I had the flower looms when I was 10 I'm now nearly 55 It just goes to show sometimes the old ways are always revivable and will be around for a long long time. They are very therapeutic to make I have arthritis and it keeps my joints moving. Thank you so much for watching. I hope you subscribe.

How would you finish it if you didn't want the fringe.
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel7 жыл бұрын
There is no way to avoid a fringe. You can ease it off and leave it uncut so it will have loops around the edge or push the fringe back and crochet around the edge but the fringe will still be there around the back.

How to make big blanket?Its very small na?
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel7 жыл бұрын
Make a bigger loom thats the only way as the do not join very well it is difficult to get the pom poms symetrical when you tie them together to make big big blankets and also very heavy to wash.
@diannejackson77607 жыл бұрын
what are the measurements for the loom pls xx
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel7 жыл бұрын
There is a tutorial pom pom blanket part 1 this shows you how to make a loom and there is a size diagram you can pause on. Once you see how to make one you can make it any size you want. The tutorial is a standard UK pram. ( not the large silver cross type )This is a demo loom I use to show diffrent patterns as I dont sell blankets there is not much point in making lots of large ones. ( I only make them for my family and we don't have many babies )

why can't we place a baby on it?
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel8 жыл бұрын
If you place a baby ON it be well advised they may pull out the pom poms. It is not a toy and young babies and young toddlers have good strength and could pull out the strands of the pom poms. Thus causing a chocking hazard I would not recommend wrapping a baby in it either, as it makes them too hot and very young babies cannot control their temperature very well. They are for decorating the top plastic cover that comes with your baby pram or stroller.
@whomstareyou80138 жыл бұрын
The reason I ask this is because I also see many tutorials on how to make pom pom blankets like this for babies
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel8 жыл бұрын
I would never recommend them to wrap a baby in or to make them for cots or toddler beds, these should only be used for decoration, but it is up to the person making them and selling them to warn the buyer of the possible danger. I don't sell mine and when I give them away I always always tell them the danger of the small strands if small babies or very young children are left to play with them or left lying on them.
