The hatchet is in semi-retirement. Wood wedges are a safer, lighter alternative! I can't remember where, but I saw someone on KZbin splitting large diameter logs with a wood wedge.

Congratulations, it’s always nice to be happy with money well spent. I’ve seen their products on other channels and it seems like a quality purchase. The collapsible style stove suits hikers and anyone who has transportation as an important variable. The glass will put a warm glow in a dark tent, a feature I will want in the future. Really nice video - I hadn’t heard of this stove and went with the winnerwell because I didn’t want to lose any screws in the snow or have to fiddle with them at all with cold hands and gloves. The lack of warping on the stove top as well as the glass might have been enough to sway me. Thanks for introducing me to other options in case I ever decide to switch it up!

Thanks for watching. The Winnerwell stoves look outstanding. I had my eye on the Nomad until I saw the weight! ☹ In my climate snowmobiles or sleds are not an option, so Everything has to be carried in by backpack. I'm with you on assembling small parts with cold hands, but I was willing to make that sacrifice to save weight. Enjoy your stove!

I have both the small and large winnerwell nomads view. They are awesome. The large is heavy but will keep the family alive in a grid down situation. The small is awesome for a smaller tent

I saw that in your video. I too went with a size bigger. I gave my old one to Mischief. It was definitely cold enough to be wearing it above 4,000 feet! On humid days, I just use my umbrella to keep my head dry and let everything else get wet.

@@BrantHikes Mischief and I were dming about the jacket I was a bit worried because several of the reviews said to not go threw briers or bushes with it. So I waited a bit to order the bigger size but for that price & weight, what did I really have to loose? So far so good!

@@RVAHikerGirl The durability has been great so far. The only issue I've had is sometimes the zipper wants to split at the bottom if it's not started correctly.

noticed on another video your friend had a 3w stove. Just curious how the pomoly and the 3 w compare as far as quality/ sturdiness and ease of operation. I noticed the 3w is a bit cheaper and wonder if you thought the pomoly was worth the extra cash. Thanks again, Clint

The 3W isn't bad for the money but has several weak points: The connection between the stove and stovepipe is weak and the damper is flimsy, plus the assembly is a PITA. My friend has since bought the Pomoly Traveler and is much happier with it. IMO, Pomoly has the sturdiest, best designs for backpacking woodstoves. If I replace my current stove, I will probably upgrade with one of the Pomoly folding stoves. The only drawback to my current stove is the finicky assembly. Other than that, it's been a excellent stove.

With a good bed of coals and loaded with good wood. With the damper shut and the front vent closed. How long would you say it will burn

No, not nervous. I can always order a replacement if it does crack. If I did it over, I'd probably order the Pomoly T1 or the T1 mini as the side glass has a tendency to blacken from smoke. Thanks for watching!

im wanting a upgrade myself, decided the winnerwell foldable was too expensive at basically $500.00, this one your running looks to be about $100.00 cheaper, not sure if id need the side glass, anyway the ole Riley stove I have is a lot cheaper but a lot less features. thanks for the vid, I subbed.

If I don’t care about the weight, which stove would you recommend? I like the T1 fast folding, but I also like how the Timber allows me to skip the side glass panel for a solid one if I want. And would the T1 leak too much due to the hinges?

For me personally, If I didn't care about weight, I would have got the T1 or T1 mini. Easier to set up and has thicker titanium with a one-piece top The stoves are not airtight, but if they are burning correctly, they don't need to be. I'm pretty sure the T1 can be ordered without side glass, it's an easy swap-out by removing the hinge pin.

@@BrantHikes I did some research and they are probably the best ones on the market. To my eye it looked a bit flimsy but all the competition is way worse. It's titanium and 1mm thick so yeah it's the best available plus it's light
