Yes, I believe the parrots were practicing speech. Long ago I had a green cheek I purchased as a baby, had no idea he would ever talk,he picked me and that was why I took him home. When I put him to bed I would here him garble, which turned out that he was practicing speech, one morning when he was still covered I heard him clearly say Good Morning, and he repeated it two more times, and that was the beginning. Never tried to teach him, he just picked up phrases on his own like when I was eating, he would rush over look at me and ask if it taste good,lol. It was adorable and unexpected. Thanks Dave, always good to see you.👍❤️

I remember when hyacinths cost around 8k, boy have they gone up in price the last 25 years. I have 2 african greys now, 1 is 25, the other younger. The 25 was a rescue of sorts, the other came after my grandma died. The bird didn't seem to care much, adapted very quickly, and had a long red eye plane ride in the cockpit entertaining the pilots. The older bird is very sensitive though, too much stress and he picks. The 2 of them are inseparable. I grew up with a yellow nape that hated me lol, jealousy! I've had conures, budgies, amazons, the 2 greys, and a hen eclectus who was the sweetest thing, but had to rehome as all she wanted was to breed, and was a fussy eater with their special diet. She went to someone who was retired and could devote the time needed. She was originally in a nature center so got to be around many different people and kids all the time, so was used to whatever. My fav breed is the yellow nape even though the one hated me. I just love their voice.

@The_Crucible7143 ай бұрын
Hyacinth macaws either came down in price or Dory was discounted because of her scoliosis. My brother breeds parrots in Florida and he paid almost twice as much (60k each) for his pair of Hyacinths several years ago. Many people into herptocture often have crossover interests in birds. I was raising tiny Australian grass finches (Lady Gouldians) and other small softbills several years ago. Birds are way more care-intensive than reptiles.

We bought a Pacific Parrotlet from a 12 year old girl/breeder at the same fairgrounds in about 98. That bird was so well trained & socialized, something most breeders fail to do. Also bought a Senegal, Jessie, in 96, who we still have. Fell in love with the blue front & painted conures. They had a lot of lories & Australian King parrots back the, as well as Golden Conures.

When Max the African grey said hello - I didn’t hear anything close to hello, so did it sound like a hello to anyone else? Is it just me? I only heard that parrot sounding language again. How strange - had to keep replaying it as thought my headphones were bust! I can also hear it at many other points during the video too (like after you say Paco, the Amazon’s name). That’s so cool to have heard it so clearly on the B roll - great video as always, please keep doing these! 😊

It's like they splice interjections cryptically within the all the human narrative & trade fair ambience/hubbaloo. In the wild of my NZ garden I just get the chatter of of a high flying stray Alexanderine plus the whistles & occasional chatters of pairs & trios of introduced wild E.Rosellas. A long time ago I saw a solitary silhouette of a large native Kaka flying past the lounge window in Auckland.

birds do what they want you just have to make them think your will is also theirs. you want to become part of the flock at the very least and if you have just one you can work toward bonding fully. the day you decide you want a bird you should wait a year before purchasing one. look everything you need to up and then contact a breeder or if you have the rare well-kept local pet store (THAT GIVES THE BIRDS INFO AND BREEDER) birds will hide any illness or injury they can and the personality they have in a pet store or with the breeder is not how they will be forever, ESPECIALLY when hormones kick in. whether you planned on being a parent to teenagers that bird is going to make sure you know you can't possibly understand their emotions (freaky)

Breeding these creatures makes me MAD. They should not be in cages! Breeders are the reason so many parrots are in rescues and so many are neglected and mistreated. I rescued an umbrella cockatoo (my profile pic) 15 years ago and an African Gray 10 yrs ago. The African Gray was kept in a cage for 15 years with the last two years covered up. He was extremely angry when I got him that he would throw himself against the side of the cage every time someone would walk by. He has gotten much better and is out of his cage everyday for most of the day and is only put inside for birdie bedtime (that's what it's called in my house) Spend the time to do your research, this is often a lifetime commitment. Go to a rescue and let the parrot pick you rather than you picking the parrot, having the parrot pick you will result in both you and your possible lifetime partner both being happy. Once a parrot picks you, you should be able to recognize it because they use body language which you should get to know so you don't end up getting bit. RESCUE, never buy!

So these birds dont enter the wild. Theyre out for a show so some form of management is expected. I fully agree with you, birds should keep their flight feathers. But in this situation its a danger to them to be flighted.
@heavenleigh33443 ай бұрын
Also, if anyone is looking at getting one of these wonderful birds buy from a breeder ALWAYS Know the sex of the bird and get the opposite sex of yourself. I've worked with so many that raised babies only for their bird to become sexually mature and then become aggressive to their owner because they are the same sex 😢 There is more to it, but those are the two big things to watch for.
