I saw a fly fishing guy use that knot some time ago. I keep forgetting to start using it myself. I use the Uni to Uni which certainly takes longer to tie than this one. I don't see why this one wouldn't be strong enough for most applications anyway. Much faster to tie.

When you do your loop knot try to get the loop smaller. You gear should not be able to flip up into the loop. The loop you had was big enough for the hooks to flip up into it.
