Dont know where you live bruv but you dont need to go right down SPI for big Pomps. Went to Matagorda Bay last week and filled the box with big boys. And really nice Whiting. You ever just bake them whole? We are real lucky we have such tasty fish. Imagine paying for a 3 or 4lb Pomp in a restaurant!

I live hour n half maybe 2..north of cc ..man you ain't lying pomp sure is expensive..havnt tried baked whole ..there is so maney ways to prepare it and they are all good lol

@@southtexasfishingfam3436 Agree! I eat them no matter which way! I live in south Houston. Normally take my boat out. Easier to sit just off the Jetties and sit in some nice spots. But we got so many miles of great beaches its a shame to waste them. Hook up a beach BBQ with the fam. Cant beat it. Keep at them.

@@xrprobertolson4284 Pomps are heading further offshore now for the winter my friend. But Im catching some good Flounder, Speckled trout, Sheepshead, Redfish and even had 2 Snook yesterday off Packery channel jetty. Using live shrimp,finger mullet and a 3 oz silver spoon. So you will catch some great eating fish right now and good sizes. Tight lines mate.

Great video, I’ve never caught Pomp, how do you select a location to target them, what do you look for. I’ve never fished the surf but I want to learn. I hate to drive all the way from SATX and not catch anything. Great fishing, nice filet, and looks delicious.

Generally pomps like high 60s to almost 80 degrees water temp thats the window ya wanna look for that will bring them in closer along with water clarity ..also Padre island national seashore is great for them only thing is you need 4x4 at a certain point ..but they were at packery jetties just bfor they went deeper andoved out..so really water temp ..water clarity ...and beach structure, they can be at the 3rd sand bar or closer just depends on tides and beach structure..once the water temp rises a bit back spring tike will be good for them🤙
