Pompanos are everywhere in Skyway Bridge South Pier

Day 1 - Monday, 7/1/2024
I decided to give it a try in Ft. Desoto bridge. This is the bridge after the last toll. I probably arrived there around 10AM. No luck over there so I decided to go back to Skyway South Pier.
I probably arrived at the Skyway South pier around 12PM. I think left around 4PM and took home my one and only keeper. An 11 inches.
Day 2 - Tuesday, 7/2/2024
Maybe around 11AM. My first keeper. An 11 inches. Like yesterday my one and only of the day.
Second pompano of the day. Too small. Sorry I forgot what time it was. Technology sucks. My Microsoft Windows 10 is not showing the correct date when I uploaded these GoPro videos into my computer.
Third Pompano of the day. My second keeper of the day. Also, an 11 inches.
Speckled and silver trout are biting today.
I went home after that pompano jig and two teasers vanished. That was probably 3PM. One disadvantage of having two teasers is when you get stuck down there two teasers are gone.
Day 3 - Thursday, 7/4/2024
I did not go fishing Wednesday. I needed to do some office work on my 5 days holiday off.
10:02AM - First catch of the day. A mangrove snapper. I let it go. Some people love to eat them but not my type of fish.
10:14AM - Second catch of the day. Not sure what kind of fish this is.
2:09 PM - First pompano of the day at the Skyway south pier. Almost a keeper.
2:21 PM - A catfish with little babies.
5:08PM - Could have been my first keeper. It was a little heavy. What a frustrating day for me. Tony, “The Pompano King” arrived around 4PM and caught three pompanos already. The other guy said he caught four.
I went home around 8pm with not a single pompano in my cooler. Tony caught his fourth. I am so tired jigging guys. My right hand is so numb!
Day 4 - Friday, 7/5/2024
11:12AM - Back in the Skyway south pier. My first pompano. Almost a keeper. Greenback are everywhere. I wonder. Not a single Spanish Mackerel bite today.
1:34PM - Almost a keeper. Story of my life.
1:40PM - Another undersize pompano.
4:06PM - Finally, my first keeper and my only one for today. Almost got away. Pompanos are everywhere in the Skyway south pier guys. You just have to find them. Thank you so much Ely for allowing me to share this video.
6:56PM - Ladyfish are starting to bite. Time to go home. Thank you so much for watching as always. Stay safe!

Wow! That one Mangrove Snapper on the jig was definitely a keeper.😅 The Dunedin Causeway is stacked with them. They are my second favorite eating fish after Pompano of course.😁🎣 #TheDeterminedFisherman

@@TheDeterminedFisherman I thought 12 inches was the minimum size for mangrove snapper. I could have keep it. I was thinking of grabbing my phone and search the internet but I decided to let it go to be safe. I didn’t want to waste my time and I’m in a hurry to start jigging again. Pompano is always my top priority :)

Omg man I am having the worst luck with pomps.. nothing for me at skyway, the fort DeSoto bridge, John's pass... Plenty of snapper... No pomps 😢 nice catches I'm jealous

@@Guapoomole it’s all about luck. I got lucky to catch 2 this morning. An 11 inches and a 13 inches. I will try to upload my video tonight after my lunch and dinner. I just got home a few minutes ago. No bite the whole afternoon. Kinda frustrating. The weather was 100% similar than yesterday. I saw two people catching a few pomps in the afternoon including two big ones yesterday afternoon. I caught my 13 inches around 11 am on the same spot where Ely the guy on my video caught his 3 pomps. We were still catching 10 and 10 1/2 inches between #18 and 19 yesterday and that’s where I caught my 11 inches this morning.
