I was at Pompeii 13 years ago. We took a public walking tour and being in this ancient city was more than I could ask for. However, these walking tours are almost like being in Pompeii. The creator of these virtual tours gave me a better view of what life was like in the discovery of this reconstructed city was fabulous. I received more from looking at what was shown than I did when I was actually there. The bakeries, the inside of restored houses, the courtyards, the fountains, the Brothels, the Frescoes, the walkways, the streets, The forum, the statues, and so much more gave me the perspective of what the city was like before the Eruption . I would like to thank the creator of these visual tours because he knew what he was doing. Great work!

Hey Paul, thanks! I am really glad you enjoyed the tour! Yeah, it is hard to take it all in on the first trip to Pompeii. I recently went back and filmed it all again, a much longer and complete tour. It is on my channel. I think it's called Pompeii 2020 Walking Tour. Anyway, you will see more in that one...but I have not finished all the closed captions yet.

Thanks so much Pro Walks for the great information about the everyday lives of the citizens of Pompeii. What is it like walking along the streets with uneven stone work? I would probably kick my toes so many times. Some of the streets look smooth while others seem like a path would need to be navigated.

Was this city completely burried under dirt ? Were there any trees above and if yes, how did their roots affect the ceilings of these buildings ? I think it is incredibly preserved for being so old a city

Are the wooden crossmembers over the doorways replacements?
@ProWalks6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think they are all new. In Herculaneum you can see original wooden beams and they are way more worn than these.

I have been to Pompeii several times now and each time something is open that wasn't before and something else is closed. They are always working on something.
@stefanianoto43726 жыл бұрын
Hi! I think it is because the Sovrintendenza runs multiple projects at once. Consider that the current state of Pompeii and Herculaneum is only the 40% of the real size of the roman ruins and the city of Pompei is very active and populated also thanks to the activities involved with the Sanctuary of the Holy Virgin

My camera is mounted on a selfie stick that I extend up so when I walk the camera is about 8ft tall. There was just another person there that you can't even see because my camera was over their head. :) I hold it high up so the viewer is not always looking at the back of someone's head.

15:52 does anyone knows the purpose of that PHALLUS on the wall ? is that was like a road sign showing direction to THE LUPANARE? (Latin for wolf’s den) .One of the famous brothels in Pompeii?
@charlottebruce9795 жыл бұрын
According to Mary beard the British historian they are not entirely sure, it was not however a pointer to the brothel of Pompeii, there is only one official one, there are too many phalluses for that. She suggests they are there because it was very much a patriarchal society and this was one way of asserting and exerting male dominance.
