Greetings from HOT Arizona growing zone 9B. Thank you for showing the varieties and progress of your blackberries! We are trying to grow over 14 varieties of blackberries and raspberries in our backyard.

Thanks for watching! I will add raspberries as well in the future. Is there a variety you would recommend?

@@TreehouseVineyard the only ones that have come up and stayed alive is Latham red, and Encore Raspberries. We also have a Loganberry which is doing great!

Thank you! We try to keep it organized to hopefully maintain the farm easily. We have plenty of varieties and I’ll try and be better at remembering the name of the variety.

I have a dozen prime-ark 45 thorned, they produce good, but i am fixing to dig them up, I'm tired of those thorns. I had ordered these plants as thornless. I didn't know there was a thorned version. My berries didn't do well this year due to the late frost which hit them when they where bloomed out. Same thing happened to my wild plums. Our weather in Louisiana has been so extreme over the past years, either drought or late freezes. My fig trees last spring got hit by a freak freeze/14 degrees. Killed all of them back to the roots. Some of them came back this year with all new growth loaded with figs but he wont ripen ..

It’s a bummer with spring crop whenever there’s late freeze. I shifted most of my fruit trees to Asian persimmons and jujube to avoid any late freeze damages. I will not replant any stone fruits. I’ll add more mulberries though.

Not so acts like one of our cats with the attention. Looks like a large patch. Our struggle has been keeping varieties separate as well.

I planted close to 80 plants last year. There are only two rows that I know for sure the variety, Ponca and Prime Ark Freedom. The rest are all mixed thornless blackberries. We have 10 cats guarding our property and most are very needy of affection!

nice setup! fyi those primark should be twice that size. If you want them bigger I suggest soil analysis and an aggressive feeding schedule. It looks you have drip irrigation set up , IMO check your nutrient levels.

Nice video. Browsing your videos I have to assume that we share similar weather ( I’m in 8B just south of Valdosta Ga.) and looks like we planted about the same time. I’m curious how you would compare the flavor of the PAF’s to the other varieties?
@TreehouseVineyard Жыл бұрын
We are indeed zone 8b as well. Lake Fork East Texas. The PAF were too young to produce last year so this year is the first real crop for them. Natchez, Osage should be better this year as this is their 3rd. I’m excited about Ponca, first year fruiting as well.
@eardw2251 Жыл бұрын
@@TreehouseVineyard yeah, that first year fruiting is awesome on a little homestead. Get a big harvest in the sprig then an almost continuous light harvest until frost, or even a little later.. I sure hope these guys can survive long-term.

I just realized that I have been a subscriber to your channel. Your blackberry videos are first to come up when I search for prime arks.

@@TreehouseVineyard far out! How are the Ponca’s doing?
@TreehouseVineyard Жыл бұрын
I think the drought stunted them a bit. But they are taking off this year. Almost all of them are loaded.

Another KZbinr recently reported that his Poncas are sending out new canes several feet from the mother plant. Are you seeing that with yours?
@TreehouseVineyard Жыл бұрын
My Poncas struggled with last years drought but they all took off this year. I didn’t see any runners yet, all the Primocanes are within the crown area. I might see those runners from several feet away very soon since they are all so vigorous and loaded this year. Thanks for watching!
