I just tasted my first one from a Primacane bought as a plug and grown in a 15 gallon pot; they are huge and delicious Prime Ark Freedom fruits

They can get really big.

Your orchards are amazing. I just planted my blueberries last fall and wanted to use a cattle panel for the trellis. Found your channel searching that way! Now new subscriber 😊

Thank you! We grow blueberries in pots here in NE Texas. My soil needs to be amended for blueberries so that’s on hold until I have the time.

Do you have Pawpaw growing wild on your property?
@southalroots7 ай бұрын
I meant blackberries not blueberries 😊 sorry about that. I have blueberries too and know those don’t require a trellis.

How many blueberries do you have? I only 3 in pots but they produce decent amount of berries.

I have 5 or 6 blueberry bushes I planted.

Thanks for the video. I’m growing the PAF as well (zone 8b in North Florida) and yes, they can be quite tart if picked too early and the window between too early and too late is pretty narrow which is probably why their not recommended for commercial farms. I’m doing like you; just the slightest tug and if it doesn’t fall in my hand it ain’t ready. Having said that, they make incredible blackberry jam! Good luck.

Thanks for that info, totally agree with what you said. I tried all the other varieties and they are definitely much sweeter, especially Ponca. We plan to freeze and make jams and jellies so PAF it is! Thanks for watching!

Do you have this much for a you pick operation or do you sell at farmers market?

Just a hobby orchard. We share most of the fruits to friends. I buy most of my trees when they’re on sale or clearance that’s why I plant so much. Ison’s nursery had the blackberries on sale for $6 per bare root 3 years ago so I bought a lot!

I see you have leaves for mulch. I got starter plants a few years ago and the guy i got them from said he thinks leaves decaying helps the soil ph be right for blackberrys. Just wondering if you have any reason for using leaves or is it just what you have in abundance.nice berry plants!

Texas Prepper (famous blackberry KZbinr) once mentioned he used leaves gathered from his neighbors as fertilizer before. So I followed his advice and so far it’s working. Plus I have lots of oak leaves so might as well.

I'm envious! Which variety do you think tastes the best out of the types you have?

I would have to say Ponca right now. But Triple Crown is also very good. Thanks for watching!

Hello, I didn’t fertilize for the season yet. I just heavily mulch.

do you have issues with swd and if so how do you get rid of them.
@TreehouseVineyard Жыл бұрын
So far no swd. I will prune all the dead floricane when the weather gets survivable in Texas. Hoping it will minimize diseases.

Here’s hoping that the more they mature over the years, the sweetness will be consistent. But there’s always pies, jellos and jams! Thanks for watching!
