The reason Fenix does flap 3 like most EU operators is that most of them would much rather do an intersection departure with a shorter takeoff roll. The don't even have a very long second segment climb because of their NADP2 stuff and thus a lower thrust reduction and acceleration altitude.

Sorry but flap 3 is the least efficient departure from many aspects. Any operator thinking they are saving money has not done their homework, Every departure burns 60-80kg more fuel, lower flex temps will cost the company MILLIONS every year and yes im serious MILLIONS. To give you some idea on a leased IAE engine an average of 1 degree C in flex usage equals $250,000 in leasing costs PER engine. Multiply that by say 100 engines for just 1 degree C and your at 25,000,000 per year. Pushing flap 3 is the least most efficient otion any operator in the world would do..

Yet BA does it, and I'm sure multiple others do it too. That's mostly because at airports like Heathrow, they LOVE their intersection departures. So they start up, get the shortest taxi intersection they can get, and go go go

@@Scarebus_Driver when TORA limited flaps 3 will give the highest flex and the fuel burn difference is in the order of 5-10 kg according to airbus, and also a larger tail strike margin on medium to long runways

@@luisartiach1970 sorry but if Tora limited then flex is based off best second segment climb which will never be flap 3, ever. Flap 3 again is the least efficient departure configuration in every aspect apart from runway usage. Only users where runway use is a priority would use it. I cannot see a use for flap 3 unless you want rip up hundred dollar notes. Airbus recommend flap 2 or 1 for green operations as it reduces burn in the climb and with Nadp2 or 1 burn is reduced. Climbing with a large flap setting has never been efficient nor will it ever be, period. This is why 98% of the world’s Airbus operators use optimised performance. Using optimised performance even from intersections will frequently give flap 2 or even flap 1 results based off weight so this obsession of flap 3 used by Fenix is completely incorrect. Optimised data using Airbus perf data only gives flap 3 in the worst case not every case the reverse of what fenix gives.. Another Fenix issue with regard to reality a frequent occurrence.

V1. I've noticed the overall audio levels of your streams has gotten lower over the last month or so. I'm comparing it to the volume of ads and other streams and videos. You may want to check into it as when an ad interrupts it is significantly louder than the stream.

What does V1 mean when he says to turn off SDS on the rudder to help maintain centerline? I’m unclear what SDS is.

Its a way of adding a "dampened" feel to the flight controls. I prefer it on for sidestick, but I have now turned it off for rudder input and I prefer it that way. Makes it easier to track centerline. These options are under Fenix sim settings in the EFB
