@@francisco3466 Most people don't deserve the greatness that is this band
@DragosBox3 жыл бұрын
@@francisco3466 That's usually how it goes for music channels, since most people don't have notifications on for bands/artists. The views add up over time, instead of all at once, as opposed to normal youtubers. A good example would be their ”The Boys Are Killing Me” music video, which I remember only had about 800 views in the first hour, and now has over 100k

I went and read the lyrics for this which then drove me into a long deep dive into the America's Cup, Alan Bond, and the resulting gentrification of the region leading up to and following the event. This song provided way more to me than I anticipated.

anything you remember reading you recommend?
@3dCraddock2 жыл бұрын
@@russtoday honestly it started with me just doing a wikipedia on America's Cup, then Alan Bond came up in there, which I associated to the lyrics, and then I read through him and it was bonkers. I hit up the reference sources provided as well which is linked in the wiki pages. Although the references being in the 80's and 90's are rough since they needed to be recovered from newspapers vs modern online news stories.

IIRC there is another reason why they won't be coming back yet but will be touring Europe soon, but I can't remember it at the moment. My guess is they won't be back over here till 2023 at the earliest.

@LanceVanceDance843 жыл бұрын
According to lead singer Nick Allbrook: "1987 was the year Fremantle was televised to the world and gentrification began in earnest. There are still relics of the pre-cup history floating around. It’s also about large, massive champions gathered outside a gym in London, who I thought were funny. The first line is lifted from [Icelandic artist] Ragnar Kjartansson, and the music came from a super fun jam. Hadn’t done that in ages and it was a gas." and: "It’s about Fremantle before Alan Bond gave the big ball of gentrification its final shove, when it was cheap and harsh and the broken relics of the pre-87 port city were young, groovy cats in a secret idyll wedged between the river and the sea. It’s also about blokes being different versions of whatever the hell we’ve been taught we're supposed to be."
