All things in life pass eventually, both good and bad. As the old school stoics would say, the trick is to enjoy the good while accepting the bad that will eventually come to pass too. I find some comfort in the idea that it's all a cycle and only death and taxes are permanent. When you know it's temporary it's easier to have patience with bad things and people.

Im ex Military and an expert in Range Design. There is no need to use hard materials such as rail ties, they are bloody dangerous with ricochets, especially in close using hand guns over the last 15 yards or so, the first round to hit that steel strapping will blow it apart, just using the dirt backstop is fine, you might need to throw a bit of dirt into the divet holes every 20 years or so to keep it in shape, the rear side of the back stop could also be a bit gentler so you could run a mower up and down. Other than that it looks like a fun place to spend the after noon teaching kids good gun safety after some fishing.

Some places it's mandatory to have a backstop of hard (or very thick) wood besides the dirt backstop - a dirt backstop alone isn't enough.

Very very nice. Watched from start to finish. The owner increased the value of his property a lot more than he had to pay to get this done. It was the quality of your work that made it look so good. It not only looks good but will be a very serviceable recreation area for the owner. Even a nice place to let the kids fish. Again a very nice job.

What a work of art! The Salvador Dali of........., whatever form of art you want to call this. It's just total amazingness. My son's and I have thought of a family homestead. This type of property layout with lake and shooting range is exactly what they want. Quite frankly, having watched other excavating channels-respectfully names withheld, I wouldn't buy and build unless Chris was available to do it. It would be the deal breaker for sure. Thanks Chris!.

Around where I live most of the ponds are for drinking water. Drill a well get sulfur water spend 6 7 grand for a system that works maybe 1/2 the time or dig a pond. Usually 16 ft or deeper stone the edge because you want it full and without stone the edges erode away. You always seem to keep the ponds shallow and a wider shore with no stone. Just pointing out the differences I like the way they look without the stone. We don't get the amount of rainfall you get either. That's how we keep ours filled usually pile the dirt into a hill on the back of the pond so the runoff helps keep it full.
