I used things learned from this channel to dig my own pond and make the dam.
@Skorpychan3 жыл бұрын
I was inspired by this channel to dredge my pond. It's not very BIG, so I was able to do it in a couple of hours. And most of that was emptying it with a bucket and spreading the water evenly around the garden. Pond gunk went into the compost heap, and the fountain was able to work properly. I still don't know why they didn't fit it with a filter.

Not to mention the trees that the owner didnt want taken out of the pond dam and will eventually fall in the pond and mess up the dam. Week before last i was finally able to get a crew out here to do our pond. It took 12 years of waiting til my husband would finally agree to have it done, and that only after 8 trees broke this past winter and landed in the pond! Its much safer now!

LOL Thanks Chris for clearing up my question in your last video regarding the sheep foot compactor. I see you do read the comments, nice to know. However, in my mind I still do wonder if a pad type attachment with the same square foot print as the roller which you just place on the ground and apply the required downward pressure would quicker and give you more control especially in and around the pipe? The dam looks excellent another skilfully complete job as always. Much respect from New Zealand.

Turned out great great as usual. Wonder how many will comment you need a plate compactor because the one you use doesn't work? There always seems to be a couple every time you use it, lol. Can tell it works because the machines don't sink any further than the loose dirt the feet on the compactor kicks up as it rolls when you drive over the soil you've compacted.

It might be a silly question, but why do all your dams and ponds have overflow pipes in the ground. Wouldnt it be easier to just have a low furrow in the wall that just lets the overflow run through. This furrow could have a concave spoon drain type concrete floor in it to stop erosion and also still enable a thoroughfare for small vehicles and maintenance.

Rinsing out your bucket...if you push the bucket straight down with the bottom of the bucket facing up, the bottom part of the bucket which is facing up, your bottom inside bucket will not get rinsed due to the air not being able to escape the bucket. Instead get a bucket full of water and giggle the bucket to clean. Give it a try.

@shanereynolds59713 жыл бұрын
@@ConstructionMachineryChannel absolutely not. The roots will weaken the structure, creating channels for water to seep. Worst of it all is when a root dies and rots, then there is a clear path for water to move. They were likely left per owner's request, as Chris hates trees on dams.

around here over flows for ponds are around one in of the dam with lots of rip rap so nothing gets washed out. Some may also use a stand pipe for over flow for ponds on a small drain basin. There are plus and minus for vegetation in ponds depending on what the pond is used for.. With lots of horses/cattle vegetation won't last especially with cattle using the pond 24/7 in summer months. Some folks need to realize other contractors may do their work or use different equipment than they use.
