Pond Project - Part 10 - Over flow drain installation

Todays project is to finish out the ponds over flow drain that goes through the dam and out into our South pasture and into the local creek.
I used 18 inch corrugated poly culvert pipe. The inside surface is smooth to enable quick drainage. I sourced it from my local McCoy's lumber because nobody else carried this stuff!
Thank you McCoy's! I really needed that!
We also finished out the dam with the last bit of dirt to make the dam complete!

lol....that was funny, talking about the Kubota SVL-75 "I want one really bad" Track loaders are pretty useful. Next, rent a compact size excavator in the 9,000-12,000 lb. class. You'll want one of those too. We bought that first.....now looking for a track loader.

Right on - I NEED an excavator now, a year later. We built the dam about 2-3 ft. too high in places and the excavator would fix that in short order... Thanks for your comment!

Thank you for your comment... We don't have beavers here, so no worries there. We never ever want this to "flow year the year round" it only needs to function during rain events like a hurricane. The over flow is located at the lowest point of the edge of the pond, as it was designed that way for a reason... The overflow has a screen over it that mitigates fish escaping of a larger size. This pond is fed with water from a well, not a stream or other flowing body of water and its catching drainage from part of the property is relatively small. Meaning the overflow will rarely, if ever, get used unless we get 36" of rain during a hurricane or something... Which is very very rare.... It has been installed for a year now, the leakage we had around the pipe has now stopped since all the dirt has absorbed some of the water, swelled up with all the benseal we put in, and has settled a bit. It's in fine shape and working well. And the fish are getting larger and larger...
