POND SCUM....whats the best way to get rid of it

What can I do? please help

Hey Trey, where we live it’s called “duck weed”. Had it on a couple ponds. Some years it’s worse than others.

You need water movement , its too stagnant Plus your algae eater fish die off or get eaten by water fowl and other fish . So just because you added them doesn't mean they all survived. And there is a recommendation for how many to add per volume of water you have in your pond. I would definitely get more algae eaters and get your water moving with some type of water pump or fountain you need more oxygen in the water. Right now its a Mosquito haven. Also, Theirs chemicals you can add to the pond to adjust your levels but it won't last without your water having movement to it. Check with your county extension department for methods to determine whats your best plan of attack they should come and look and offer free advice. Hope you get it under control soon . That duck weed, and algaes, three type. One: bad water flow, and need a bubbler to increase the O2 . Second created WATER FLOW over a pea gravel bed 10' by 10', then move to each pond, repeat. Trey

eat it. it is just duck weed. You could get some ducks and put in there. They will eat it.

what does taste like & how do I cook it? wait I know wrap it in bacon lol . I have heard that you can feed it to rabbits I think but not sure

Buy Aquatic Herbicide. They make many different kinds. Get the kind that is safe for fish, animals and people. Will cost you between 70 to 100 bucks. Google it. You will find what you need my friend.

no sir I don't have a drain pipe but when it over flows I have a ditch it flows out
