did you know that mario is akuma? the comments do.
There's a bit of debate over what qualifies as the world's first video game, as Tennis For Two is actually predated by a patent that was filed for a device called the cathode-ray tube amusement device, which never actually got made. Call it a bit of personal bias, but I think that actually existing is a pretty crucial step to being considered a video game, so in my mind the award goes to Tennis For Two. (by the way, look up a picture of the machine that plays TFT. it takes up an entire room and the screen is the size of a salad plate.)
The Wikipedia page for "Early history of video games" has more notable devices made around the same time, they're quite interesting to read about if you're so inclined. There's even a bit of Tic-Tac-Toe lore in there, which is related to something we talked about in the video!
Since Pongs has no music, I decided to spice it up with a little background music. Those songs are listed below and then I have a separate list below for other songs from specific edits.
Songs used (background music for Pongs)
Street Fighter 2 -Guile's Theme
Donkey Kong Country - Funky the Main Monkey
Yoshi's Island - Powerful Infant
Twilight Princess - Monkey King
Super Mario Sunshine - Corona Mountain
LSD: Dream Emulator - Friend Banana
Punch-Out!! (Wii) - Main Theme
Mario Paint - Creative Exercise
FTL: Faster Than Light - Rockmen (Explore)
Kirby's Dream Land - Castle Lololo
Luigi's Mansion - Professor E. Gadd
Banjo-Kazooie - Pause Screen
Mario Kart 8 - N64 Rainbow Road
New Super Mario Bros. Wii - Stone Head Mountains
Sonic Adventure 2 - Live And Learn
Happy Souls - Summon In the Sunlight
Tiny Tim - Livin' In the Sunlight, Lovin' In the Moon Light
Super Mario Sunshine - Hotel Delfino
Yoshi's Island - Flower Garden
VVVVVV - Passion For Exploring
VVVVVV - Positive Force
VVVVVV - Pushing Onwards
Philharmonia Schrammeln - Wiener-Spezialitäten-Marsch
Songs for specific other edits:
Enya - Only Time
Satan - Dunkaccino
Vincente Fernandez - Guadalajara
God - Habibi Hamood 3
The Tokens - The Lion Sleeps Tonight (Wimoweh)

Fun fact: Rubik originally invented his cube to teach his students (he was a teacher) about 3D shapes and faces. After trying it out, unintentionally mixing it, he spent roughly three weeks obsessively trying to solve it.

I hate to be "that guy" but the part about teaching his students isn't the true story He actually used the cube to solve a structural problem, and see if he could move the individual parts without ruining the cube as a whole. The part about scrambling it unintentionally and taking a long while to solve it, however, is 100% true another fact is that it was originally just called the "magic cube", but the distributor wanted to make the trademark more unique, and thus named it after the inventor

"and no, and axis of movement is not a dimension". In a 1D line you can move forward and back, in a 2d plane you can move forward, back, left, and right. If you still feel a burning desire to play Pongs, try out BlueMaxima's Flashpoint program; it's got thousands of classic (and non-classic) Flash games on it, and the Infinity version is a nice slim download that I'd very much recommend; I use it for Flash Game Friday every week.) bluemaxima.org/flashpoint/downloads/ Dong Dong Never Die can be downloaded here, but be warned, it's kind of jank and has a tendency to crash(and the majority of the game is in Chinese). dong-dong-never-die.en.uptodown.com/windows

Pong for 2 is a reference to Tennis for 2, which is one of the earliest video games ever made. It was designed to display on an oscilloscope and ran off of a computer meant for determining the trajectory of intercontinental ballistic missles, which leant itself well to predicting the trajectory of a ball being bounced about by paddles.

The first game was tennis for two. The first commercial game was Tennis for the Magnavox Odyssey. Then Space Wars released in arcades. Then Pong, a bootleg of Tennis, became popular. Atari was, rightfully, sued for Pong, but they had an idea of how to market something, unlike Magnavox, and managed to make it somewhat popular
