Pontiac G6 wheel bearing hub replacement

Changed my wheel bearing today on my 2007 G6. Wish it was as easy for me. Mine was seized in place took about a hour to break it loose. However watched each step on this video and repeated it. Took all of the guess work away. Again Awesome video thanks.

How did you know that was the problem? My g6 shakes and when parked you can move the front wheel and it clicks. I can send you a vid of it

Wheel bearings will make a growling sound when you turn the wheel making a turn or in a curve. Far as the clicking sound could be several things. Lay under the car and get someone to turn the wheel. Check all moving parts. Jack the car up and see if any play exists in the wheels by placing one hand on the top side and one hand I n the bottom side and wiggle it back and forth.

Looks like you didn't use a washer for the new axle/spindle nut. Is that right? I just did this same fix on my '08 g6 using your video for guidance (thank you) and I noticed the original nut had an attached washer that spins but the replacement 36mm(615-095) nut does not. I still need to do the driver side bearing and I'm wondering if I should use a washer or if it's not necessary. Thanks

No your "gear" which is part of the cv axle should be fine.

5:20 how do you suppose I break the axel nut before I get the tire off the ground when it is covered up by the tire?!

Take the center cap out of your wheel and put the tire back on and break the nut loose. Pull the Carter key out before you put the wheel back on. If you don't want to do that you can just put a couple lug nuts back on to protect your studs and wrap a crow bar with a thick rag or old shirt and wedge the bar between 2 studs that you put the lug nuts back on and the other end of the bar on the ground to hold the hub in one place while you break the nut loose. Keep in mind if you try the second method there is the risk of breaking a stud.

Sorry just notice your post. You would have to press the studs in with a press. Its easier to just buy a new hub but cheaper to replace studs. I've hammered them before but it's a pain to do so. Again sorry I didn't get a notification on your post.

My daughter has the same car and same steering issue. We took it to our local GM dealer and they are only going to replace the torque sensor on the electronic staring just thought I would give you a heads up on that. It text the issue on our car it may or may not on yours. If you have to replace the motor you will have to take it to the dealer to have the module that is attached to the motor programmed. Just wanted to let you know. I was thinking the same thing that they would replace the whole thing but they don't

I don't know without looking at it. Call your dealership tomorrow and give them your vin number and they can tell you if you have abs or not.

After this video I know for sure that's why my car is doing all that buzz is because of the wheel bearing. Hit a curb pretty hard and after I got the tire replaced it started doing this loud sound.

If you damage ball joints by hitting the spindle nut which only moves the CV axle then you need to replace ball joints anyway because they are a weak.
