Thank you for the video! 8 months I lived with the clicking, it ended up burning out my hazard switch/flasher once. Literally 15 minutes after watching this video and the clicking is gone! Seriously. . Thank you.

Thanks for this post bud. I was able to remove the assembly as you instructed and because I didn't have the small torx bits like you have on your video I only had the quarter inch drive bits I wasn't able to get the torx bits out of the small recesses. But what I did was coat the inside of the assembly with a lot of contact electrical cleaner I picked up at autozone. I sprayed it along the control arm entry point and in any kind of holes I saw on the signal side of the assembly and worked the control arm up and down repeatedly. I did this about 3 times with about 2 minutes in between each time. Then I let it dry for about 30 minutes and reinstalled. It's working perfect right now I hope it continues to thanks a bunch. Note for anybody reading this remember the part about removing the negative side of your battery terminal so you don't short anything out while doing this.

This worked perfectly for me. Although, for anyone trying this, to save you time, do not put much dielectric grease in after you clean the contacts. I first did this and had to re-do it because I put in too much grease. Only a dab of grease, and you are set. Thanks so much for posting!

Perfect. Used your procedure on a 2004 Alero. Took it out and cleaned it with Q-tips and electronic cleaner. Problem solved no more erratic clicking. Thanks, Tim

Took it apart and cleaned it twice didn't help, noticed everything in there loose and sloppy. Replaced blinker switch, $100.00 Approx. Fixed the problem. Car has 150,000 Miles good to replace and affordable. This video helped me a lot, Thanx.

Thank you so much!! I am "car stupid" and the clicking sound was driving me nuts. I was worried it was going to mess up the whole electrical system. I spent $11 on a set of bits at Auto Zone and 20 minutes and it is fixed! Woohoo!!!

2014 Grand AM was doing exactly the same thing. Sounded like a short or something in the blinker system. I am absolutely no mechanic, so, I thought what the heck, I will try this on my own. I got very little dirt out with the q-tip, put everything back together, and it absolutely worked. Thanks a lot!

worked for me as well!. I went ahead and took the screws out of the wiper side as well and the two halfs come apart and much easier to clean. did have to enlarge the hole for the recessed screw to fit my bit in. BTW, no little pieces went flying out. there's one spring that's captive and stays put. thanks, saved me 100$!

If that aint the truth lol Since I've had the car, I've dealt with the switch problem twice, fuses something blowing every couple of days that completely shut my car down and now this clicking problem. Despite those nuisances, the car runs like a dream

I just bought an 04 a couple weeks ago. The car runs AMAZING for its age and I've always wanted one so I figured why not. But this blinker clicking noise is DRIVING ME CRAZY!! Off to see if this works. I'll be back with an update. Updated to add...... This didn't work for me. I cleaned off the terminals and applied some dielectric grease but it's still clicking. Must be my hazard switch. 🤷

So above the contact is a slit, make sure you clean that too. Mine had a small rock wedged there somehow. Anyways, thanks for the help, the ticking has been driving me insane since I first got my Pontiac.
@amyladwig22845 жыл бұрын
I know this is 2 yrs old but I want to thank you for this comment!! I tore my steering wheel apart months ago to clean the contacts. I was desperate to make it stop. I ended up making it worse. It walent from sporadic clicking to constant clicking. I finally just order a new hazard switch and popped it in. No change. Still clicking. So this past weekend, I decided to take the steering wheel apart to clean it one more time before I ordered a new multifunction switch. As I cleaning it, I noticed a very very tiny piece of debris in that slit. Got that out, reapplied dielectric grease and hoped for the best as I put it all back together. Reconnected the battery and started my car up. HALLELUJAH THE CLICKING IS GONE!! I'm not sure how I missed it the first time but this comment made me look a little closer! My sanity has been restored, so for that, I thank you!! 😊

I had this problem about 3 yrs ago on my '03 Malibu. I cleaned the contacts and it fixed the problem. Now the clicking has started again. I cleaned the contacts again thoroughly but it's not helping. Any thought on what I could try next?
@straightwhiteandproud96432 жыл бұрын
The one part I needed to see was where exactly to put the grease when re applying it. Does it go directly onto the contact points or do you just smear the shit around inside or what.
@crownedroyal200311 жыл бұрын
I used a Honda issues brand grease (Part #CH666). Not too sure what the issue would be with only the right signal working. The flasher relay is a common failure point on these vehicles also. The flasher relay is part on the 4way flasher switch. Thanks for watching.
@crownedroyal200311 жыл бұрын
I would replace the multifunction switch. (turn signal / wiper switch assembly), also there could be a issue with the 4 way flasher relay (thats where the clicking noise is created when signals are on). I hope this helps.

Thanks for the vid wish I had seen it before buying a new hazard switch one thing it might have been nice to put the warning about the airbags AT THE START!!!!!!!!!!! Got any videos how to replace the airbag??? :-)
@nater94475 жыл бұрын
At 0:11 you say that you replaced the flasher switch. Where was that located? I can't seem to find any clear-cut info on where it is, and it's possible that it's causing my grand am's left-hand turn signal to flash rapidly when engaged - no bulbs burnt out.
@crownedroyal20035 жыл бұрын
Flasher switch was built into the 4 way flasher switch.

I changed the four way flasher switch because the signal lights didn't work half the time. clicking in the dash a few months ago. just today the abs and trac control light came on as I backed in the drive. I turned it off and started it and they went off. then the signal lights just stay on and don't flash or the four ways just stay lit up and don't flash.

I did this. I opened up my blinker assembly and I cleaned the contacts with electrical contact cleaner. I even cleaned the contact plate at the top. Then I put dielectric grease onto the contacts. Only putting small dabs on them. And put it all back together. I cleaned out the connecters themselves for the blinker and i still get random clicking when blinker is not on. Ive also replaced the hazard relay. Someone please help i've been dealing with this for so long and nothing seems to work.

also, this didn't fix the blinker clicking. turns out, the clicking is coming from the same general area as where the stereo goes. and I must have done this wrong because now the blinker won't physically work. trying to open the part to get in with a q-tip made something disconnect so I had to open the whole thing and put it all back. that must be what's causing the blinker to not budge. I should never have even tried this. I'm gonna have to get my car towed now.
