Thanks for the video. Only one i found on youtube... did the driver side and passenger side motor mounts. one thing that worked well for me is i used to same spot you tied the rope to but i used a ratchet strap and connected it to the bottom sub frame hole. made it a little easier to guide the motor around while mounting. got rid of my thunking that kind of felt like a transmission kick when putting in to drive or reverse. Shop quoted over $1000 to replace those mounts. $70 and 2-3 hours later with minimal tools needed.

Score a win for John! I am glad the video helped you. I have been thinking of pulling down my videos over KZbin's censorship of information about the poison COVID vaccines and the stolen 2020 election. Maybe this response will be auto-deleted before it even reaches you...

Thanks for this I definitely seems like I've got some motor mount problems and I know I have had some oil leaks so that would kind of explain that too. Was worried I was going to have to take it to a pro to get it done but this definitely seems doable

Thanks, Joseph. The hardest part of the whole job was deciding to give it a try. It was weird to move the engine around a bit so the new mount could drop in. Best of luck to you!

It's not too bad to replace. Get a A/C mount. Anchor front mount only lasted 6 weeks!
@GoldenMinotaur Жыл бұрын
@@mrbreezeet1 funny you say that. I replaced mine, it solved the issue, then vibration started again and thought must be the transmission mount. So I replaced it now too. Better, but still have some vibration. Guess I should check that mount I put in to see if it's failed already

@@GoldenMinotaur yeah what kind of Mount was it? I put that anchor in it lasted 6 weeks. Oh okay I guess I already said that you were replying to that yes 6 weeks and it started shaking real bad again.
@mrbreezeet1 Жыл бұрын
@@GoldenMinotaur I would flip your front dog bone mounts too and replace the round dog bone mounts at the motor side of the dog-bone mounts. The separate mounts at the motor side are easy to pop out and press back in the OEM dog bone. Big improvement in the way the car "Connects" off the line.

Thanks for posting this. I had great difficulty in getting all 3 of the bolts into the engine block. It was relatively easy to get the forward facing middle bolt in. But I couldn't align the two upward facing bolt holes so that I could insert the bolts. Do you have any suggestions?
@lwh73012 жыл бұрын
Use a large screwdriver to make the alignment. Stick the screwdriver into the hole of the bracket and then into the hole on the engine.

Different car, but I have a 01 Pontiac Grand Prix SE. I had a real bad vibration under acceleration. My front mount was real bad. I replaced the front mount, got rid of 95 % of my vibration under acceleration. I still have a slight vibration under acceleration. Should I flip my dog bone bushings, or replace the transmission mount, or both? But some people say flipping the dog bone mount bushings may add slight vibration. I don't want any vibration.

Did you ever figure out the rest of the vibration?
@mrbreezeet1 Жыл бұрын
@@alexcat321 Replaced the tranny mount and flipped the front dog bone bushings. Replaced the bushings on the motor side of the dog bones. Doing the dog bone bushings really made it "connect" better when pulling out. Cheap anchor front mount went out in about 6 weeks, and the vibration returned. I shimmed up the front mount with about a 3/8" piece of wood, it's running great for now. I have a new A/C mount but it's running so good, I hate to mess with it right now.

Do you have to use a jack when you're doing the top two motor mounts
@ColoradoDemings5 жыл бұрын
No. The jack is not involved when disconnecting or reconnecting the top mounts. You might have to pry or yank things around a little bit. Good luck!

How hard is it getting it out?

I just get the "growling" vibration at idle, worse when sitting at a light and in gear. When I hit the gas, everything is smoother. Was that the situation with yours? It started a little while back, and has stayed consistent. Looks like a simple enough job for me, I just was looking to be a little more certain before I get into it. (2003 Silhouette)
@ColoradoDemings2 жыл бұрын
I don't remember the specific progression. At some point the noise became annoying enough for me to try the replacement. It sounds like you're at the early stages of metal-on-metal like I show at 3:30 in the video. When you're on the gas, the engine probably tilts enough to eliminate the metal-on-metal contact.

@@ColoradoDemings that's what I think. This thing is still running so well that a couple of bucks and a little time is well deserved. I'll probably do it next weekend. Thanks for the reply on Independence Day! Enjoy!

01 Pontiac Grand Prix. What is a decent motor mount that won't break the bank? Everybody on the internet is saying that anchor and DEA are junk. I am not looking to spend $80 at the general motors dealership. I am not real hard on my car will a anchor or DEA Mount be good enough for me?
