Every 40 seconds ,someone in the United States suffers from a stroke ; according to the CDC . A pontine ischemic (lack of blood flow ) stroke is often devasting . Approximately 10 % of all ischemic strokes are in the brain stem / pontine region . This region is situated between the base of the brain and the spinal cord transmitting information from the brain to the body.
