So summons are magic and only affect those it is casted on as noted in the game, hence Sephiroth casting Meteor on Earth and not the party. "Summon Magic strong enough to destroy the planet," (Temple of the Ancients). Sephiroth wanted to show his power, but the attack only affects the fighting party not all those planets.

I'll never forget as a kid, the first time I came across this boss, my party was severely under levelled and I had a bad materia setup, I was fighting Bizarro Sephiroth for absolutely ages, like a good 45 minutes. I finally defeated him and threw my controller down in celebration, but then....this music started and this guy appears. Naturally, I got my ass kicked and I don't think I've ever been so devastated 😂. Just how I managed to even get to the end of the game with my party was a miracle! Nice job with this song btw!

Maybe give Sephiroth the ability to wipe out summons akin to Griever being able to do so in FF8. As for this, particular portion, I can imagine it being something akin to the fight between Cloud and Sephiroth in Advent Children. Good choice of image. I adore Safer Sephiroth, calamity on seven wings... I just love his design, a cross between a "traditional" angel and a "biblically accurate" angel, and every single wing is gorgeous, I love the colors on all of them. And those halos... [chef's kiss] He really does look like glory, destruction, perfection incarnate. And of course, the song One-Winged Angel is just legendary, I've only ever heard one theme that gives off the same "worship and begging for mercy" vibe in the choir (and that's "The Legend Descends" aka the Fatalis theme from Monster Hunter World). I just adore that it's so popular that so many people have covered it, sometimes multiple times. And this is one of the ones I love! I particularly like the additional choir vocalizations in the beginning. There's some really good, frightening harmony going on there. Anyways TLDR; this cover is neat and I've yeeted it right into my Sephiroth playlist

I've listened to a lot of your stuff. The management of dynamics, phrasing, and all the vertical stuff in parts where there's three counter melodies at once is really good. There is a lot more polish to this track than a lot of your other great work. This is definitely next level stuff. well done. Right before the "repeat" - Subito Piano's on the strings is the only part where things were noticeably "programmed" the hits were uniformly stoccatto instead of transitioning in to a subito-piano style sustain.

What so many renditions of OWA always seem to lack is the military-esque element. Despite his madness, his arrogance and his ascension into a higher being, he was once a soldier and that will always be a part of him. This version however nailed that aspect.

So I was thinking...since boss fights in the remake seem to be divided into phases now, along with different focuses on the music used, wouldn't it be badass if the chant at 3:50ish came in towards the end of the fight where he summons a timed version of Supernova, where you have to finish him before it completes? Just thinking out loud.

3:27 should happen as an alert warning, regardless if the one winged angel theme is not yet at that part to tell you that supernova is about to kill you, causing the player to panic. By the time 3:44 hits, your time is up as you are forced to listen to Cloud and his friends scream in terror one last time offscreen, as the camera pans to Sephiroths face filled with a sickening smile.

A good One-Winged Angel remix has to capture the sheer pants-wetting cosmic terror the original induces. The original is still the only final boss theme among the numbered FFs that do not have any hint of the kind of fast pace that indicates "the final desperate struggle to save the world". Even Dancing Mad tier 4 (i.e. when you ACTUALLY fight God of Magic Kefka) still has that. One-Winged Angel doesn't. The message is clear: You are against something both cosmically horrific yet divine. No anime physics or skillz will help you here, for the entity you face needs none of that to bring you to your knees in despair. And while the image of the solar system's destruction via physically-impossible supernova may not be real, it will feel every bit as real. Every second of searing pain. And this nails that feeling very well!

This is amazing. In my opinion, it's better than the version from advent children. The advent children one is pretty cool, but this one is absolutely terrifying. Kinda sad how the horns are traded out for more strings in the newer versions.

This is my favorite version of this song ever. It mixes the grandeur that the official orchestration tries and fails to achieve with the oomph f the in game version. I only wish the "Gloriosa! Generosa! was in there, but considering the majesty of this piece, that can easily slide. In short, you have done VERY well, Mr. Hultgren.

As someone who usually dislikes orchestrations and remixes of video game music on youtube, I was surprised by how extremely well this was executed, especially considering how you're essentially competing with the Advent Children and Remake versions. This version is fairly faithful to the original, but you've added some subtle changes which fit well stylistically, and the choices of your instruments are similar, even when the instruments are very different from the original they sound good. You clearly had a vision when making this, and you've realised it well. I think the best thing I can say is that even when you made a change from the original that I wouldn't have added myself, it still sounded good in the context of this orchestration. My only criticism of this is when you added an extra bar, you did it once just before the choir started to sing, and another time a bit later. It just felt very out of place and unnecessary. Otherwise this was pretty good, you should be proud of how this turned out.
