I just imagine a Blood Angel and an Imperial Fist at the Eternity Gate fighting back to back amid a seething tide of Traitors; Daemons, Guardsman and Legionaries alike. Meanwhile, amid a pause in the melee, they look up briefly to see Sanguinius tied in furious combat with Angron, flying overhead. The Angel rains punches down on Angron so hard and so fast that it sounds like artillery fire, and Angron’s just howling madly as he tries to bring his sword around to slash the Angels wings. The two of them soar through the sky like a furious, _Twin Tailed_ comet, before vanishing into the fog of battle. The two warriors look to each other, and nod briefly. The Imperial Fist acknowledging the Blood Angels strength with a brief, reserved grin, before focusing entirely upon the battle once more.

I was surprised with some parts having a heroic tone, and then I realised Cadia might've not fallen if it wasn't for Abaddon throwing a fortress to Cadia, and which the term: "The planet fell before the defences" was created, or something like that

“The planet broke before the guard did” And it refers to the fact that on the broken pieces of the planet there were still guardsmen fighting even as the gravity and atmosphere faded

it really does solidify Abaddons resolve how ever. a black stone fortress holds secrets of mankinds past and he is willing to sacrifice all of them to defeat the Imperium. it is not about usurping the Emperor or slaying him and ruling over at new age of chaos. it is about the destruction of the Imperium. the galaxy burns and everything is fuel for the all consuming fire that he unleashes upon the mankinds worlds. Horus wanted to rule it, Abaddon only seeks to burn it all.
