I had super straight hair when I was kid , my hair started getting very puffy and weird when I was 12 or 13 yrs old and I never knew what to do with it, as I grew up I got a perm and I would straighten my hair every day lol until like almost a year ago I saw a vid that made me think I had some texture in my hair so I started the CGM and I know now I am a 2b-2C wavy hair and I love it Btw I love ur vids and that you always go straight to the point and give great advice thank you ❤️

So many wavies start with straight hair that gets “puffy” around puberty (shout outs to hormones for changing our hair texture!) but I’m so happy to hear you discovered your beautiful waves 😩

Throwing away my hairbrush was the main thing that helped my hair. Your channel taught me how to care for my naturally wavy hair. Now I've run into a new problem: I just moved to a super hot & humid city, and my hair frizzes constantly! I'll check your older videos for product recommendations for that.

I have a video on humidity and in the description there’s an article from science-y hair blog with a full list of humidity resistant products! I’ve also heard good things about the Bumble and Bumble humidity resistant gel oil but it could be too heavy if too much is used.

For so many years I just thought my hair had a mind of it's own. When I was a toddler I had waves, at around four they went from waves to straight and stayed straight till I had them cut off at 10 y/o. After that I noticed my hair would get poofy after brushing them. Thank God my mom (she has a mix of wavy and curly hair) noticed that I have no idea how to take care of my hair and taught me some basics. I stopped dying my hair almost 2 years ago, and now I'm trying to learn how to keep them healthy and wavy as much as I can❤️

I have thick coarse frizzy wavy unruly hair. I typically flat iron it straight into a bob, if I don't it's just frizz everywhere. In the last 30+ years I've gone through expensive hair products, prestige, cheap etc. Masks, deep conditioners, hit oil treatments, leave in conditioners, bonding products, you name it, nothing works. When wet it tries to wave up in an "s" pattern, hair closest to my jawline goes wavy & poofy, flat ironing doesn't straighten those strands they stay wavy, the rest works with the flat iron except the strands of hair along my face. Doesn't matter if it's high heat or low, no matter what smoothing product is used. Big puffy wave pattern. Just short of getting a keratin treatment, which I don't want, I've got no other ideas, I just begrudgingly live with it. I have split ends too. There hasn't been a product or method I haven't tried. If I use too much heat then I lose volume & body, lower heat it goes into a wave pattern. At 50 years old I finally just fave up on it today. Frustrating & exhausting.

I had ringlet curly hair as a kid, it got pretty straight when I was around 9/10 except for the hairline which curled up weirdly no matter how much gel/brushing it. Anyways now I’m wavy. I embraced it because I got tired of combing it and getting thick triangle look. My roots would look flat but all the volume would be the mid and ends of my hair.

So if we do have that typical South Indian wavy but poofy once dried and combed out then do we follow a curly hair routine and scrunchie it with curl gel/cream mousse or?

@@serpentinefireball just be careful with how heavy the products are. My hair can take up to 6 hours to dry even with nothing in it. So heavy products might even take a whole day for your hair to dry.

@@izadam6389 Wow! Good to know it's 'normal' for it to take long to dry. So go with less heavy products? And trust that it will eventually airdry and not touch hairdryer? lol

My hair was curly as a baby and toddler, it turned wavy when I was like 7-11 cuz my mom would brush the hell out of it, I always just thought it was wavy but it’s starting to look like when I was a baby lol

This the the best video I've seen to address this mystery, thank you!!!!! Sorry for the brain-f@rt question :D I listened to this earlier and made the assumption when "jumping in the shower" that we would S&C after rinsing out the mask....but now watching it again you didn't say that. Shall I assume we don't? On a sort of related question to bringing out waves/curls, maybe you or the co-subscribers might have insights: I'm growing out layers and although they looked ok quite a while back (as layers), now that the hair has gotten longer, the layers at the back are TOTALLY shelf-y! Not sure why they grew out that way. It almost looks like I have a wig on, with a bunch of hair sticking out the bottom LOL So my question: I the only way I can get that "shelf" to not stick out or poof out is to brush when wet and keep smoothing it while air-drying. It's killin' me to brush it which ultimately straightens it. I can't decide if I should just suck it up and go back to cultivating my waves **after** it's grown longer....or....cut the length to about the length of the shelf. It'll be quite short by my standards (collar bone at most) but I could give up on the straightening/smoothing and work on waves at that length. It scares me..I haven't had hair that short in I don't know how long. On the up side, the shorter length may give me some stunning waves. I'm afraid to try LOL

Thank you for the video! Is leave in conditioner and the same as a hair mask, to be specific the Shea moisture one.

No leave it in just that, a conditioner that is meant to be applied after a hair wash and left in. A hair mask is a deep conditioner that’s to be rinsed out,

Hey Susanna. Thanks for all the info. So you believe we shouldn't brush our wavy hair when its dry? Ever?
@SuhannaDeSilva3 жыл бұрын
Definitely not saying to never ever dry brush, there’s definitely a time and place (and the right brushes) for dry brushing but if you’re trying to avoid stretching out your waves I’d definitely cut the habit. Personally if I dry brush, I’ll do it just before washing my hair when I oil it.
