He's one of the least talked about point guards of the 90s, yet his first few years in the league saw him put some above average stats and particularly great assist numbers. Pooh Richardson starred at UCLA, spending half his time there alongside Reggie Miller. After that, he became the first rookie ever drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 1989 NBA Draft. His years in Minnesota were defined by losing and little exposure, so he never got a lot of shine in the national media, He eventually reunited with Miller when he was traded to the Indiana Pacers, but his two years there were marred by injuries, then when he finally was where he wanted to be, after being traded to the Los Angeles Clippers, his health went down and his age went up, and by the end of his career, he was lucky if he got to take off his warm up. Pooh Richardson isn't necessarily one of the greatest to ever do it, but he was a really good point guard in his early years, yet one who is never brought up in any basketball conversations; so his recognition is long overdue.

Man!!! This channel is unreal… How does he find the time?? He drops these great biographies of the greatest players of our era!!! I think he does some football stuff too!!! Didn’t he just do Dana Barros and Stacey Augmon in the past two weeks?? Now he’s dropping another gem?? Edit: how does he get all this great footage?? Some of these clips I’ve never seen!!! In the Stacey Augmon video I learned he was Prop 48!!! How the hell did he know that?? It’s not on any Google search…

Who else remembers when SportsCenter was firing on all cylinders back in the early 90's with Craig Kilborn and his 1000 nicknames for Pooh Richardson? My personal fav was "Pooh Pooh Kachoo". Man those were the BEST times. "Skip to my Pooh finished with 8 assists..."

about 5 years ago, Pooh was playing and Tracey Murray was a teammate. This was a city league so just avg joes and dudes with bellys in the league. People were like wtf, these dudes were in the NBA! They completely dominated. lol

To the OP, you know that I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up! From my birth year, you can TELL that these players are right up my alley! Age 20-27 were mostly HAPPY times in my life, so these take me back to happy times!

I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. I remember a 1994-95 Sonics at Clippers 2OT game, where Pooh KILLED us! I've always respected his game. I've never seen him dunk, though. Is there a dunk in this game? I remember a 1992-93 game, Denver at Indiana, where the Pacers won by 30. Denver Coach Dan Issel was so upset with his team, he said "The Pacers could have had Winnie The Pooh at point guard, and still have won."

0:55 I did NOT know, that Pooh Richardson could dunk! I've never seen it before! Honestly! BUT, I was also a stiff, who didn't have Cable TV until I was in college, so my NBA viewing was limited to Sonics road games and national games. Not too many Timberwolves games on CBS and NBC, in their early days.

U know u had to be a beast, to take it to the rim back in those days if u were a PG/SG… they would hack u in mid air just to see how tough or SOFT u are! And the Centers/PF were 6”10-7ft giving hard fouls, that’s why it was called “The NBA: No Boys Allowed!” Now it’s all boys… 😂 that’s probably why the ratings are dead?
