@JamesCH08
@JamesCH08 3 жыл бұрын
@@MH-wo5lj I hear you, but I can't say I've never had that mindset. I grew up in the hood, and it's kind of hard to not really be influenced or easily caught up in the streets even if not trying to get caught up in them. It's like the scene in the movie "The Wood" the store robbery scene, or "Boyz N The Hood" when Tre was in the car about to ride for Ricky, . Even if your not in the streets you got friends who are and it's all around you, it's easy to get caught up in the streets and it's hard to get out of it. I was lucky my Mom moved us to a black suburban area when I was 15, and I had started to be caught up on some dumb shit when I was back in the hood. I was fighting, dudes my age and grown men, hanging out in the projects, in young girls houses, the type of girls whose parents ain't never at home. Looking back I could've easily been shot, just from a simple fight, or from fucking with someone's girl that they want to claim, or ended up with a baby at a young age or had I still been having with who I was hanging out with I probably would've been hustling. But not to long after we moved to the suburbs my mindset changed. I wasn't trying to prove I was tough or hard or on no street shit, I realized black people out in that area were about making money legitimately and enjoying a peaceful drama free life. An that's what I became about, I just can't understand someone having six figures in their pocket and access to being out of the hood and being able to leave all the dumb ass street shit behind them. But still dabbling in the street shit like it's cool. I understand that mindset when your in the hood with nothing and your young and ain't nobody telling you about the opportunities and choices you can make to create a better life for yourself. But when you literally have more money than most people make in their lives, with access to businessmen, lawyers, and managers and you still can't tell shit is different, and that you've made it to new heights in life, then you're just a fucking fool.

Young black men rhyming about their struggles is an exceptional talent, and an inspirational thing to watch. But when you only perpetuate that same struggle, especially when you’re getting paid to perpetuate that struggle, through spectators interest, it becomes a perversion of the art. Poison for both the spectators, and performers. Only death becomes of it. We are lynching ourselves.

I've been a fan of rap music since the early 80's, grew up soaking up Rakim, Nas, WuTang, Redman, Biggie, DMX, Tupac and all the rest of the all-time greats...Even though they all could get dirty with the street life and speak on it, there was an undeniable effort to uplift and switch the paradigm of street life. I was a white boy who grew up in juvie and on the streets due to being homeless and rap music back then was actually inspirational and motivational for me. No matter what, I can't see ANY inspiration in this generations rap music. It's either about killing or taking drugs and the lyrical content has dropped off exponentially. There are a few bright spots in the rap music we hear today. Kendrick, J-Cole, Coast Contra etc... but damn man, I miss what I grew up with. I heard an interview the other day and can't remember who said it, but they asked "you know who isn't dying in all this music?" and his answer was really eye opening. He said "The record company executives aren't dying" ....the industry executives are the REAL demons in this day and age. They push this on the streets and glorify the killing of young black men...Now, as a white man who grew up on the streets, I get that the streets are a very different lifestyle with its own laws and code, but damn...this industry environment has created a genocide of young black men...these young cats are pushed to create a hostile environment. You KNOW these kids are intelligent, yet their intelligence isn't being cultivated..it's being extorted for the financial gains of the industry executives...

It's all about the talent, the strength and the mental power of the individual, Memphis rappers in the 90's were real G's, moved differently, something you can sense not how they force it now while everyone does the same ol shit, helping the culture of death perpetuate, social media got people fucked up..a super mind control force got people manifesting their own demise, clout, firearms, females, money, and drugs, sucked into the oblivion of the intensity that comes with it all mixed with the wickedness of the ghetto, all these videos of 20 dudes waving guns (and there's 10,000 that look exactly the same) it's like some straight up MK-ULTRA shit, programming to spread like a fucking virus, division and death culture, a conscious individual sees directly through this and it looks fucking stupid, the true are experiencing a gangster and a spiritual/aware existence in the hell they've been born in, 50/50 chance to transform it into something higher, back to the hype - a perpetual cycle of violence, envy, desperation, struggle, gain and loss, souls are sold...material and clout is gained for a short time and the life is taken, over and over again
