Excellent (old) video. Wish this was the standard format for "how-to" videos today.

Thank You Sir. Very helpful indeed, and the only useful video here on the subject of opening one of these pumps. Time saving, money saving, interesting and crystal clear - well done, and thanks again!

Thanks for the clear instructions. A note for those, like I did, are having a hard time removing an impeller that won't budge.Bought a strap wrench-the strap goes around the perimeter of the impeller and breaks it loose without damaging it.

Great explanation!!!

If you tighten the impeller by hand you risk tightening it too much and stalling the pump. When that happens the pump overheats and the thermal protector kicks in. After you tighten rotate the impeller and make sure the rotor rotates freely.

Should you use silicone sealer around the metal collar on the shaft seal? The pool shop said I should and it was used on the old seal? Great vid! Thanks!

Awesome. At 5:07 you didn't put any goop (or plasto joint stik) on the outside of the housing for the seal before placing it back in the plate.

Well done video. When doing this repair, make SURE to NOT lubricate or TOUCH either ceramic surface of the bearing seal. If you do, simply wipe it off before assembly with a clean paper towel and some common Isopropyl alcohol.

“Tap it from the back side pretty hard” umm yeah sure, i think i can manage that. Lol
@poolmotorrepairguyFL11 жыл бұрын
Yep.. sure can, use a wire clothes hanger to probe the impeller, a flashlight can come in handy. the sta-rite dura glas has a opaque impeller that make cleaning a breeze and is the finest pump built. REMEMBER to prime the pump after any pump repairs !

a channel lock on the neck of the impeller is dangerous, the outside of the impeller should be used. takes a big set of slip joint pliers 'channel locks'

So, what do you do when your impeller wont spin off? You sure made it look easy on a brand new pump and impeller, maybe next time use a old worn out pump?
