Never tap on the outer race when installing a bearing on a shaft. You must use a pipe, a drift, or a socket to tap on the inner race only. Tapping on the outer race can damage the balls, the races, and the cage as all the force is transmitted through them to the inner race. Tap on the outer race when installing a bearing in to a boss. For the same reason. I hope you replaced the ceramic pump seals, they were leaking as evidenced by all the corrosion.

The stainless steel ####-ZZ bearings don't resist moisture as well as the original rubber-sided ones (-DDU aka -DU aka -2RS). Thanks for the detailed video!

Thanks for the update. Hope it lasts for at least a couple of years.

Aa said before, never tap on the outer race. If you put the bearing in a toaster oven on broil @350° for 10 minutes it will usually push on by hand. You will need heat resistant gloves. Nice work by the way.

Good video. Unfortunately all of my bolts were seized and the aluminum housing was brittle. New pump at this point

You could buy used ones on eBay.

The rubber washer you pulled off at 7:39…do you know the size? Mine was destroyed when I got to that point.

You may have to take the old one to a pool supply store and find out.

Thank you so much for posting this. I've ordered parts and should knock this out in a couple of days thanks to you. I have one question: what size (4/6/8 inches) bearing puller are you using? Thank you in advance.
@SivaFolsom7 ай бұрын
It's the 6 inch puller from Harborfreight. www.harborfreight.com/three-jaw-puller-set-3-piece-63953.html

Any tips on getting the second bearing clip out? I’m using your same tool.

READ THE @mguerramd COMMENT !!! He should also have cleaned off all the corrosion and painted the housing for further protection. As to the oven comment - at 350 degrees you may well damage the grease and/or the seals, and shorten the life of the bearing. The comment below about the stainless shields offering less protection than a truly sealed bearing is spot on.

The front flange on the motor is to corroded to be reused!! That flange controls how much pressure is applied to the rotating seal, and it's gone!!

The motor has been working everyday since I fixed it. Will keep an eye on it and replace if needed.
