So sorry for not fully understanding the amount of DE because you use a 2 lb scoop. I use a 1LB scoop for my DE filters. So how much of DE do I pour in if my grids are 36 sq ft? 46 sq ft? Or a 60 sq ft? I don’t know why it’s confusing me but it is. Pls help
@PoolSchooler
@PoolSchooler Жыл бұрын
36 sq ft - 4lbs, 46 sq ft - 5lbs, 60sq ft - 6lbs.

@@PoolSchooler other videos show that it would be more than that. I’ve been using your videos as “the final day so”and so far so good. But other videos tell me other things than what you say and this is one example. Anyhow, thank you for your time and patience in helping me out. People like you are amazing. God bless.

@@erickrhernandez1451 I can only speak from my experience. And the rule of thumb has been 1 pound for every 10 ft.² of filtration area. So if it’s 36 ft.² I would round up and it would be 4 pounds. Again that is served me well and among the people that I’ve worked for and pool service professionals that I know that’s pretty much our rule of thumb.

Question please: so I maintenance my parents pool because they've been taken advantage of from the local pool techs here. And the other day the pressure was at 30 (normally 15-22 for their pool) So I backwashed the pool, cleaned out the DE filter grids, and added DE powder in the skimmer and pressure was stable at 18-22psi. This is a normal day. Well we swam in it that same day (me, wife, mom, sister and her 3 small kids) and the next morning I checked the pressure and it was at 30 again. Is this normal? I saw the pool level was a little low, maybe 1/4 of the skimmer level instead of 1/2. So I'm adding more water but idk if that could be the reason or if it's just cause we swam in it for 2 hours. They have an old Polaris but I want to get them a dolphin cause I noticed debri on the bottom pool surface. I checked the manifold and grids carefully as usual and put it all back together. I didn't see any cracks or any indication they were torn or broken. Usually when I do this whole process the psi doesn't jump up that quickly especially not the next morning. What could be the issue? P.s The pool isn't green it was just a little cloudy when I started the cleaning process. Also they just have a regular push pull valve, not a multiport.

@PoolSchooler 2 жыл бұрын
You may want to test your system to see if DE is blowing back into the pool. Run the filter pump, add a scoop of DE to the skimmer and watch the return ports. If you see white cloudy water coming back into the pool from them then you have a leak in the DE filter somewhere. It could be the grids but also could be the manifold.

How long should it run after cleaning with fresh will it fall off or stick to the grid?
@PoolSchooler
@PoolSchooler 8 ай бұрын
Typically, it’s my policy/habit that when I service a client Pool, regardless of what I do to it, I let the filter pump run for about an hour and a half after I’m done to allow several things to happen, first any chemicals I add to circulate more thoroughly through the pool. Second, two filter out any dirt particles that were brushed off the sides or steps. And third to let my clients know that I was there. but typically if you just recharged your filter with fresh should stick to the grid pretty quickly within a few minutes. Letting your filter run for 30 minutes after you recharge it would be a good idea.

I thought when backwashing, you use 80% of the filter guidelines. I have 48 sq ft & the filter manual says 5 pounds when opening. So after backwashing I use 4 lbs(80%) correct??
@PoolSchooler
@PoolSchooler Жыл бұрын
You are correct. I basically say you want 1 pound per every 10 ft.² of filtration I know you can round up to 5 pounds based on 48 ft.² but typically for my clients pools without size filtration I use 2 pounds give or take a half a pound.

New pool owner. I was told to add 10 1lbs scoops by the pool company that replaced my pump. After watching your video I saw that my filter is the DE6020 which would equal to 6 scoops. I’m over by 4 1lbs. How can I remove the extra DE powder?

Question is the program of poolschooler work for me I live in FL You are in Arizona if I recall right temperatures are different than FL
@PoolSchooler
@PoolSchooler 2 жыл бұрын
I've been to FL many MANY times and the only "big" difference I have found between FL and AZ (my area of it) is that FL has higher and longer humidity AND typically more vegetation. But what people don't realize is that for at least two months out of the year (July and August) AZ gets some serious humidity along with 100+ temps (I know I sweat a ton those months and consume a ton of water daily to keep myself from dangerous dehydration). So you may need to us a bit more phosphate remover in your pool to keep those (that come with lots of vegetation) under control but it's really not that much different.

Hi. My filter tells me 7 pounds of DE but using your formula I would only put in 4 pounds. ?
@PoolSchooler
@PoolSchooler Жыл бұрын
What is the filtration area of your filter? It should be on the filter label. I’m guessing it’s 45 ft.²? If so, then, yes, 4 pounds.

Can I use the de with my glass filter.
@PoolSchooler
@PoolSchooler 10 ай бұрын
DE should only be used in a specified DE filter. I’m assuming that by glass you mean you have a sand filter that has glass as its filtered media. In that case absolutely not! Do not add DE to it.
