What a fantastic song it is? Sivaji, MSV, TMS, P.Suseela combination produced a lovely Love duet song under one of the great Indian director C. V. Sridhar. N. T. Sivaji Ganesan has given different kind of walks for his songs. Here he has given just like ordinary youths but at same time, like his regular majestic walks. We enjoy his songs along with his different kind of walks always. Other things like lip syncing, acting, scenes, etc add more to that.

One interesting trivia regarding this song is, the dance choreographer didn’t make it to shooting that day. C V Sridhar, the film director, did the choreography instead. Apparently the only time he did so.

If I remember it right, Director ran fever that day, Sivaji and KR Vijaya completed the song by themselves, as the garden rent, crew expenditure and availability was to put into better use than just informing Pack Up. Work ethics mattered those period.

Assad, for the quintessential Sivaji Ganesan - TMS combination one should listen to Engey Nimmadhi (where shall I find peace?) from the movie Puthiya Paravai (1964 / The New Bird). This movie was produced by Sivaji’s own production company. Tamil mystery drama, in Hitchcockian style. A man seemingly at peace in finding a new love, suddenly finds himself in confusion & disbelief when his wife, thought dead, returns back alive. This song is a dream sequence depicting his inner battle for … peace. Check out the cinematography for this sequence filmed on set depicting inner turmoil, horror, confusion & the longing for a peace of mind. Direction is by Dada Mirasee, a Bengali lawyer-film director who had worked with Sivaji on other occasions. Music is by Viswanathan-Ramamurthy (at their zenith, 2 years before they split) apparently assembled the largest number of chorus singers & musicians for a Tamil song ever, especially violinists. TMS had remarked that this was his most difficult song (if ever there was one for him), but he recorded it in just one take. There’s another star in this song, and that’s the lyricist Kannadasan. Since I don’t have subtitles, that will be for another day. All I would say for now is, Sivaji, TMS, Viswanathan-Ramamurthy & Kannadasan were the Brat-Pack of Tamil cinema in its Golden Days!
