Good stuff!! I appreciate the consideration at the ramp. My wife and I have it down to an art. Once It’s my turn it takes less than a minute and a half to get her launched. Yanking it out takes about two minutes. These people that deflate their toys, pack up their crap on the ramp get me fuming. So thank you for the time dedicated to courtesy.
@briankeevan81342 жыл бұрын
Exactly!! People that pull up with nothing ready to launch/trailer their boat, taking up a slip for 20+ minutes are rude. It’s a common courtesy to our fellow boaters to have your rig ready when you get to the ramp.👍🏻

It's nice seeing an owner taking such good care of their boat. I Captain owner/operator boats for the last 30 years, 80' to 120' range, they could give a shit less. I usually only do relocation's or run the boats when they have a full cruise schedule. I get to the boats at least 3 day's ahead of time and do nothing but cleaning....

However the payoff is great when you see your family or friends in total enjoyment. Thank you so much for the info.

Great video as always. I just want to add one comment... especially in South Florida you must be careful with a boat and trailer of that size at the ramp. Many ramps drop off.. ends and drops deep especially at low tide. You can get stuck easily and I have seen where that cause caused trucks to end up sunk. The get stuck then slip and slide then sometimes end up in the water.

A great way to judge when it is floating. Just before you start to back in the water, put a couple of feet of slack in the strap. That will accomplish two things, 1) you will see it move just a bit when it is floating, 2) the slack will prevent boat from lifting the trailer and rear of the track, thus preventing you from being the topic of a KZbin ramp video and a very embarrassing call to your insurance company. Thank you for the video!

Great video! I have a question about your steering at the end. When you're twisting the boat, how is the middle engine being controlled? I can understand that with two engines, you can push the port engine forward and the stbd engine in reverse to get the spinning of the boat. But what does the middle engine do? I've always been curious.
@LifeByTheBow Жыл бұрын
Great question, I’m sure there’s a KZbin video that would probably explain it better than us. But I’ll give it a shot! Everything is so digital these days it all has to do with the electronics of the boat. I think that it’s whichever motor is powering harder that the middle engine will assist that engine.

Love the video - informative. I remember the fear of the ramp - this dock the ramp falls off at the concrete edge at low tide - dont use this one for a boat of x size - all the stories made it nerve racking. Then you add in a monster like this! Boy was it quiet for unloading. Such a scary time on a busy weekend! DOES A GASOLINE STATION LIMIT you - if you wanted to fill up 500 gallons? Think how many cars that would be!

Awesome video. I am recently retired after 20 years of military service. I am looking at getting a boat for fishing and family cruising. We will be using the boat for multi day travel, but I also want something I can handle myself for days when I just want to go fish on my own. We are in Southern Alabama, so very close to the gulf and tons of freshwater lakes. The question I have (for anyone who can give experienced advice) is, how much does this procedure change when launching an Inboard boat? We are looking at a 35' Viking Express, A Tiara 3300 Open, Wellcraft 330 Coastal (39'), Luhrs 38' Open, and similar. All of those weigh much more, so I imagine they draft deeper. Is it feasible to ramp launch boats like those mentioned? I have no issues trailering a boat that large or heavy (I have a class A CDL and lots of trailering experience), but ramp launching a large boat is something I have no experience in. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Our backup plan is a 30 ish foot catamaran with outboards and a cuddy of some sort, and just make that work for multi day travel and fishing.
