My GCC is about 17 years old he’s a rescue though my understanding is he had a good home before which seems accurate as he is very loving, but he walks to the edge of my shoulder and poops and it sometimes makes the floor without touching me, other times it may graze my hip or back- my other GCC goes wherever

Yeah, so nice when they go somewhere else! It is innate with some of them-

Thank you for sharing these tips today. It does explain things a lot more now. I do have a question for you if you can answer it? I adopted a Caique recently who is 6 years old. He poops on average every 45 minutes or so. However, when he is in his covered cage overnight( 10 -12 hours) he will not poop at all until being uncovered again. If tne cage is uncovered he will poop. Is this normal or should I be worried.

I have paper towels and unscented baby wipes everywhere my birds are allowed. I have “bird towels” I throw over my shoulders. I do notice when they are on tables the back to the edge. In the morning it’s like living with a flock of seagulls!. Some will just poop from a perch. The others poop from the side of the cage to it hits the floor. I also really look at their poop to do a bit of a digestion check. My birds are generally pretty indiscriminate. My Caiques poop about every. 15-20 minutes. Please discuss the importance of looking at their poop. Gross but necessary in my opinion!😊

My bird will hold his poo until I bring him outside in my living room every morning. Hes just stubborn, rude, sassy, bossy, passive agressive, and controlling. Every bird has their own personalities. My bird trains me. This is typical GCC personality. LOL. He can be a sweet boy whenever he wants to.

They don't poop at night, so that predators don't find them. Covered cage is like night. If you are concerned, talk to your avian vet. For me, the most important thing is keeping an eye on their weight and droppings. These signify more about health.

Your bird sounds well-loved! He or she has clearly been allowed to be who he/she genuinely is. Good job!
