Also, very weak effort here by the people trying to stop the dog. The owner acts like he is not even trying or is afraid of his own dog. The one guy had the right idea by trying to put a stick in the mouth of the dog to open the mouth, but he was not going to be able to do that with the thin stick he had and how far away he was. That was an American Pitbull. They were bred to latch onto and hold animals like bulls, bears, wild boar, and other dogs. You are not going to get one to let go by holding the back legs or using a thin stick to try to open the jaw while standing like five feet away.

Anyone who is reading this. If this happens, and preferably if the attacking dog is wearing a collar. Grab the collar, twist and pull upward with variable strength. This will cut off the dog’s air supply for a few seconds - but long enough to allow the other dog to go free. In this case, they had rope. Fasten the rope around the dog’s neck, twist and pull upward. Make sure you unfasten the rope quickly after the other dogs goes free, so the attacking dog doesn’t pass out. Learn how to take care your dogs. This was probably fatal- most of all, the pulling of the other dog could’ve made things tremendously worse.

If you do this at the top of the neck it’s more effective. It actually cuts of blood flow to the brain and causes the dog to let go. But likely you said release the grip when the dog lets go otherwise you could kill the dog. Another tactic is to grab the dog’s waist on either side just in front of the legs squeeze and lift up. This causes the dog to drop whats in its mouth and can snap them out of it. Or a kick in that spot will also work if you can’t get a hold of the dog. I’m a dog trainer and own over 35 dogs and wolfdogs trust me this works

I think huge part of problem is the people look at all the stray or unleashed dogs running around that craphole. Irresponsible uneducated owners/people created the unsafe environment & then couldn't be bothered to get off their butts to help breakup the fight.
